So what stocks will the FED buy?

Big holding companies - Berkshire for example. The naysayers will say Buffett and their ilk don't need the support, but the opposite is true. They need the support to incentivize them to take risk.

Essential American business and major employers - Wal Mart, Ford, Boeing, CAT, etc.

In fact, I'd wager CAT and Boeing will be their first buys because of those two companies individual impact on GDP.

Ba and CAT would be my exact guesses as well. I could see maybe utilities joining in or something big in state side energy.

Everything still looks extremely positive. I've stopped putting timelines on it because of Covid but uplist to NYSE is pending and WMT earnings are mid August.

I wouldn't expect much news before August but price may continue to build for the next few weeks waiting in pending news. The stock has gone from .45 or so to 3.62 currently with barely any news out of EcoArk. To me this thing is primed for a buyout. Anyone who's gone through court filings will see that this thing is a slam dunk. As far as amount, I've heard as much as $75 per share all the way down to $10 per share. No matter what it's a buy in this range if that's how it shakes out.

Many think WMT can drag it out for years but I simply don't think that's the case. This will almost certainly be settled by the end of quarter 3.

Just another side note. If you buy now, the worst that can happen is we go to court. If you're not comfortable with that then you can offload then and will still most likely be in the green. Do your own research but I wish the best of luck to all of us involved.

they only have to buy 4: SPY, DIA, QQQ, and IWM.

If they buy named stocks, you also know what they are: MSFT, FB, GOOG, AMZN, NFLX, BA, CAT, MMM, BRK, F, GM, JPM, WFC, BAC, XOM, CVX, PFE, AZN, etc.

It will indeed be the Fed put.

I know this isn't F16, but because it's relevant to markets: As a freedom loving American, I have real issue with what the Fed is doing now and certainly if they buy stocks. I was looking up definitions of communism and socialism in the dictionary and here are good ones:

Communism: a theory or system of social organization based on the holding of all property in common, actual ownership being ascribed to the community as a whole or to the state.

https://www.dictionary.com/browse/communism?s=t

Socialism: a theory or system of social organization that advocates the vesting of the ownership and control of the means of production and distribution, of capital, land, etc., in the community as a whole.

https://www.dictionary.com/browse/socialism?s=t

Secondary definition of Socialism: (in Marxist theory) the stage following capitalism in the transition of a society to communism, characterized by the imperfect implementation of collectivist principles

On some level, I have a hard time arguing with witnessing Marxism unfolding: the system of economic and political thought developed by Karl Marx, along with Friedrich Engels, especially the doctrine that the state throughout history has been a device for the exploitation of the masses by a dominant class, that class struggle has been the main agency of historical change, and that the capitalist system, containing from the first the seeds of its own decay, will inevitably, after the period of the dictatorship of the proletariat, be superseded by a socialist order and a classless society

https://www.dictionary.com/browse/marxism?s=t

It's a lot simpler than this and it isn't really political at all. The way that the bailout/stimulus was handled was and continues to be bull***** The way that announcements about bailouts and stimulus payments were handled and continue to be handled is bull*****

You want to know what stocks the government is going to buy? Watch for big option flow into mid-2021 - 2022 calls because our overlords on both sides of the aisle will always get theirs and will destroy us in the process.

If I was worth $3MM or more I would be Bernie Sanders biggest fan because the bigger the government, the bigger the gap between the upper class and everyone else.

So much this. I wish we could get real time reporting in congressional stock portfolios and their spouses. We get a two week delay, which isn't enough time to react.

That and term limits, but that's for f16

I'm looking to enter luv after this earnings call. Expecting a little sell off on the report and then hanging onto it long.

Other than that I've got a small stake in msft, but not enough that good or bad earnings will move the portfolio much.

I have a bad attitude, I lost a lot of money thinking that 30% unemployment, the top w2 earners in the country taking 15% pay cuts, and multiple industries being destroyed would be bad for the market.

But didn't you know that that was already factored in back in March and April?

I'm assuming that that is still the case since nothing has really changed, no?

It still could be, and for what it's worth, I bet the same way that you did. Consider that volatility is not that suppressed, we're in potential double top territory with June highs, and other than Vaccine news / Covid not being the end of the world, not a lot great has happened other than easy monetary policy.

Not saying this will happen, but just something for you to consider:

Yes and it's an average year. This year is anything but. The point I wanted to raise is some late July weakness is probably normal. I feel like we are inching closer to something corrective.

Yeah I appreciate the data. I agree with a correction soon as well. My general sentiment is election season will be sideways at best. There's just no great news coming except for vaccine news.

***this is not a political stance of any kind***
There's been some rumor around weed stocks that Trump May federally decriminalize during election season. Might be worth holding a little stake in case it's true. If not, probably no bad news coming and sell for a wash.

Nothing else I can think of dipping in to.

More anti-police riots/attacks. I believe they just set another police station on fire and officers injured. It's on the news and a thread on F16 right now.

fwiw, uvxy is matching June lows (a couple days after the markets pulled back)... we at least get a monthly pullback on SPY that corresponds with a jump in volatility. At this point only 2 weeks left for a July pullback, volatility jump.

I'm hedged mostly with VXX calls.

Futures always seem to get over-analyzed on these threads. A large percentage of the time there's early excitement about futures looking super green, and half the time they are red an hour later and vice versa. And then the market the next day only follows the same direction half the time to boot.

Futures were up 0.3% and now down 0.3%... It's more or less a nothing-burger.
