While some may end up taking more home than they would working, I don't know how fast they'll be receiving that money. One article I saw said by the end of 2020. That would be pretty much useless if you have to wait 7-9 months to get paid. If the rollout of payments is a cluster **** (which it likely will be since it's the government), that could cause a lot of other issues.claym711 said:
Everyone laid off just got the equivalent of a 90k salary job, at least for the next few months.
The more people laid off, the better for consumer spending in the near term! How many people are taking a pay cut by being employed? Haha
And small businesses just got at least 100k of free overhead.

It comes with their unemployment checks so they'll start in a couple of weeks and the duration is for 16 weeks.
Quote:
When and how are payments made?
Payments, according to the bill, will be made "as rapidly as possible" and no later than Dec. 31, 2020. They will be made via direct deposit to an account that the person has authorized for tax refunds or federal payments on or after Jan. 1, 2018.
Notice will be sent to the person's last known address within 15 days of payment informing them of the method and amount of payment. A phone number will also be provided so people can call the IRS in the event they did not receive it.
I don't need it either, but I guess I'll be getting a check.gougler08 said:As expected, I ain't getting much (and I'm ok with it, I don't need it)IrishTxAggie said:

My calls and puts are both going down......that is special.
It's interesting for sure. Since 2018, we had a kid and my wife had to quit her job to take care of him as he can't be in daycare. Her loss of salary and our son are not accounted for at all. We should still be fine as our company is in a solid position still assuming quarantines don't end up extended into the summer months.deadbq03 said:I don't need it either, but I guess I'll be getting a check.gougler08 said:As expected, I ain't getting much (and I'm ok with it, I don't need it)IrishTxAggie said:

But I do wonder... I haven't filed 2019 yet, and my 2018 income qualifies, but my 2019 income doesn't qualify. If I get a check in the mail based on my 2018 income, are they going to reconcile the numbers later once I file 2019 and then do something like increase my taxes in 2020 since I shouldn't have gotten a check?

Assuming you've filed for 2019, you should be fine.Touchless said:It's interesting for sure. Since 2018, we had a kid and my wife had to quit her job to take care of him as he can't be in daycare. Sorry all, back to the market and the impacts the bill will have on it.
