If you're invested/interested in regional banks, be on the lookout for some action in the coming months. I met with a couple of investment bankers and bank attorneys earlier this week and while no specifics were discussed, there was a strong implication that there were 10+ deals in process. Not yet at announcement stage, but well past "flirting".

Rumors are that Huntington Bank has a large acquisition teed up to be announced as soon as they close the Veritex deal (which just got pushed to mid October as they're still pending Fed approval).

Two of the rumored targets are IBOC and CMA. Both have increased activity in Q1 options.

CMA just got acquired by fifth third! I didn't get many options on CMA as I was focused on other banks (CADE, HWC).
Fifth Third Bancorp to buy Comerica for $10.9 billion in all-stock deal
https://www.cnbc.com/2025/10/06/fifth-third-bancorp-to-buy-comerica-for-10point9-billion-in-all-stock-deal.html

I don't really follow bank books, so I don't quite understand if these types of major acquisitions are due to financial strain, under-performing assets held on book, or you name it. Is 5th 3rd going to pick apart the good assets and sell the not-so-good? Re-organize? What vehicle are they going to use to unload Comerica's not-so-good assets?

Scale is critical in banking. The cost of regulation is up. The pressure on deposits/liquidity is significant. If they manage it right, they'll be bigger (asset size), better (more efficient), and leaner (people/physical locations).

53 will get consolidate branches/personnel in areas where they overlap. They'll renegotiate software contracts based on the new size. They may sell some business lines if they aren't core to the Banks business.

Regarding problem assets, they typically will structure the purchase with those assets in mind and reduce the cost accordingly. Then they have a better cost basis with which to manage them.

I could tell something was up with AMD. After turning over call options five times in two weeks on all my AMD, I decided not to sell any more. Biggest jump I can remember. Ye-Haw.

Holy s!
I almost rolled calls out a week or two. My account is loving that I didn't.

Happy Monday, Ags. We're 5-0 with winnable games on the near horizon, and tu spit the bit Saturday, so I'm in a great mood to start the week!

Interloper question for the pros. Anybody got thoughts on NLR? Been dabbling in it and the individual nuke stocks I mentioned previously, like LTBR and SMR.

On these, I'm talking shares not options because the time horizon for real growth is still an unknown, but am open to any strategies. I'm just always skeptical of ETFs for long-term, so I'm not sure if NLR is an IRA-type purchase (long term hold) or a shorter term buy and hold.

A buddy told me about QTUM. Wasn't familiar, but added to my watchlist. Not sure if I wanna buy but may jump in if we get a dip.

I guess you could put some money in this. But recently it's the emerging QC companies that have gone on the serious run.

I bought some at $94. It's up like 12% since then. Probably a solid plan. There should be a dip at some point.

Keep rippin'. I've been looking for a respectable exit for my SMCI since it's been stagnant over the last few weeks and am ready to take my loss and find something with more upside potential.

Fidelity got rid of their Options Trade builder tab on Active Trader Pro. I just spoke with a rep and they said that we need to leave comments in the help section where it says "tell us what you think".

For anyone that uses Fidelity, I would recommend leaving a review that they should add that feature back. It is a great learning tool and also allows you to see all options prices and dates on one screen without having to input each individual date or price. It was very interactive and how I learned to trade options. Very disappointed that they took that feature off after using it for the last 5 years.

These tech stocks are going nuts. I'm a little worried about "irrational exuberance."

What is going on with ARBK? Bought that stock at 73 cents over a year ago, and then watched the value drop in half. Hasn't done anything in forever. Up 90% today. I'm back in the green.

We HAVE to come up with a list to speculate on. Anyone see any additional chatter or have a list of US miners? MP and LAC are big winners so far

I'm getting the feeling this market is about to roll over. This run has been crazy and the cracks in the economy appear to be heating up.

Could be wrong - all the money printing and inflation could keep it rolling.
