I am looking at Nov 2.5s and 5s. Some might be able to get net free on those premiums alone.

If you aren;t in ELOX - you could buy/write for Nov 2.5 (around 1.3-1.5 premium). Either get called out for 48%+ gain or be in the same or better spot that insiders bought at.

So, why do covered calls in ELOX if you think it going up? Your gains are not as much. I know you never know when the stock will go up but I have not gained as much several times selling the covered calls. Thanks!

In this case we bought our shares around $1.50 and covered a portion of those for $0.75 - $0.90 at a $2.50 strike. If I covered half my shares with a $0.75 call then my net price is $1.125/share. If I sell half of those for $2.50 when I get called out that's over 200% gain from my net investment from those shares that got called out and the others would gain more. Sure that might be less than if it moons to $3 and we didn't sell calls, but what happens if it didn't move or if it went down a little? Instead of simply holding shares with a $1.50 cost to me, I have a little bit of buffer before I'm in the red. It's just a way to limit risk or volatility of your investments but still set yourself up for hefty gains if it works out.

It's all about share holdings.

I have 1.3M shares. I sold 200 June $2.50 covered calls for average $0.30 on its initial spike last week and bought those back at $0.05 on its retreat. Now by my calculation that is $50k in call premium banked all because the markets worked to my favor. Now what if ELOX just kept going. Well part of my strategy would be to have sold 200k shares at $2.70 because that is a net free calculation.

All of this is based on mass accumulation approach. If I was a smaller trader in a build mode I would have taken a straight sell 50% when doubled, but when you are working large positions you are fluid and take advantage of ebbs and flows through experience.
