How can I hedge a 401k that is 100% FXAIX?
You might want to check out buying out of the money puts on SPY. Maybe multiple tranches with 1-6 months expiration? I'd suggest at least 5-10% out of the money, and treat it like it's insurance premium. They either expire worthless, or they partially insulate your portfolio if the index slides. I'd spend 1-2% of your portfolio value at most, while you're getting the hang of it - you can do more once you understand how decay affects the hedges.

I'd also suggest diversifying into other investments, and now might be a good time to reallocate.

Fruit

I went ahead and sold all of my remaining 4/16 130s. I was at 4X cost on those and that is plenty for me.

I added the 4/16 135s on a dip today at $0.76. Those are what I am holding for 'fruit' into next week.

April on both.

I'm keeping UPWK and OPEN because they're not worth selling here.
I rolled OPEN and am keeping UPWK. Not really worth it to sell - down 80%+
I bet that was an expensive roll
I did at the beginning of the week. It was a big hit, but this was a small stake. My big stake is UPWK.

I'm derisking. You guys can keep super bullish. This is +3 ATR. buy here at your own peril.

I grabbed Monday 409 puts at the close. Even if we just open the week with a model t i should be able to get my money back.

Account Ratio to end week on trading account.....

I know we talked several pages back about what each person does on managing their risk and ratios.

My opinion only. Things are 'bullish' and markets are at ATH which is great. But volume has been declining and we are well off the mean between +2 to 3 ATR. RSI on SPY for example is at 89. Yes 89! Qs are at the top of their historical at 73.5. I'm not the smartest guy in the world but the 'paintings' I am looking at usually have pullback with all these things aligned. Not saying major just some pullback to cooling off.

Yesterday and today prior to close:

  • I took profits on some things that I felt could retrace some
  • Reduced high beta positions that I was too heavy and the early trade didn't work as planned.
  • Added into to those that continue to look good.
  • Primary objective was not go into next week at these levels, OpEx week, etc. too exposed on short term trades and more into cash.

My personal reset prior to close and these are my ratios going into the weekend.

Cash - 27.33%
Stock - 54.03%
Options - 18.64%

I did add May 370P and some 4/14 408P on SPY toward end of day as a little insurance.

Y'all have a great weekend and be safe. Monday is a new day to play in the big sandbox (unless you're like me and have to try and swing a crypto or two between now and then).

I believe in this, hence my at this point really large share holdings. It's really difficult to trade options on because it is so erratic and doesn't move with the market / doesn't really respect technicals that much.

I was out of time on the 4/16 70C and decided to bail at B/E.

This is what I am wondering. Either have to switch systems or pay royalties on an ongoing basis are possibilities I would think. More details will come out over the weekend.

Lower on Zest amount but the key is getting the winning verdict on all counts. Walmart will now have to buy it if they want to use it. They're still using Eden which is what they created from copying Zest. They also shared that technology with IBM. The winning verdict was key. Still could be a lot more to come from this.
