Took 1/5 off on the UAL 6/19 $35C at 1.46 to reduce cost.

Don't work for free. Never hurts to take some off for profit and reduce your cost. Set your S/L to b/e. Don't let a good trade turn into a bad one. You can always buy back in

With the resident expert (OA) thinking 313 may be a topper, and us needing hedges, it's probably time to start looking at some low cost, high return butterflies if we can sort them out on SPX. I had a $100 hedge that would have paid $2300 if we landed on 2950 this Friday. That's past, but you can see the value of the butterfly hedge.

I can't explain it better than what Google already has out there to learn from.

Read up on that, see if it gets you the grasp of what you're looking for.

The strategy I would employ for a downward fall would be a Long Put Butterfly of the SPX, or SPY.

Looks like it's back. I still use it when I buy 100+ contracts that are super cheap just because I'm cheap and don't want to pay the fees

If you'd like a trial run on a Long Put Fly, I'm trying to enter a 48/45/42 Put Butterfly on PTON. My anticipation is that by next Friday it will close closer to 45 within the $42-$48 window. I've got a limit order in for $.66, and if somehow it ends at $45 next Friday it'll pay back $234 profit.
