A lot of the XOM support staff in the godpod just went to Pioneer to avoid relocation to Spring.

Sounds like they bought themselves 2 years.

I bet Law and Executive Protection was his phone call and they quickly whisked him away in a company SUV.

Wonder if the fact that they purchased a $65 billion company will be mentioned when we get the next round of wailing and gnashing of teeth regarding XOM's record profits.

Minimum severance of 6 months is what I'm hearing. More if you've been around for a while.

I heard PXD severance was

3 weeks pay for every year of service
And 2 weeks pay for every $10k of salary

Folks can stay in Irving for two years but after that it's off to Houston for most anyone left.

That would be about a little more than a year severance for a 5 year /120k employee.

Math isn't my strong suit, but isn't that 15 wks plus 24 wks? 39 < 52

I don't think of the WSJ as very anti-O&G. What hit pieces are you thinking of?

In general, I like the WSJ, it's my primary news source. I think they're pretty neutral. But they definitely have pushed an anti O&G global warming agenda lately. One I can think of was the laughably bad Houston is so hot that every other industry is dying article.

I agree. They are good overall and my go to news source. But recently have been pot banging.

There was the article about how the Feds's next job is to crush oil price. And the hit piece they did on XOM and Tilllerson's climate agenda. And a few others

Jesus dude. There are likely to be thousands without a job after this is over and you're finding joy in it? It's no wonder why you got laid off.

I find joy in the sycophants and suck ups sweating it out after screwing over more in the previous layoffs. I saw who they laid off and who they left untouched. Anyway, 90% are getting job offers, all field people keep their job. Unbunch your panties.

You don't know me and you didn't work there before or after the layoffs. It's called poetic justice.

My above response to you too. You don't know me, nobody cared when they had the previous layoffs. It's poetic justice. At least 90% of the people will get job offers, field personnel keep their jobs. Don't get all pearl clutching.

I think your post was too vague being that harsh.

Laughing at upper level mgmt being worried / swearing it out? I guess. But they are going to get 1 year or more severance and will land somewhere.

The ones who are really worried because they may only get a few months to find a specific gig in the field or back office accounting etc are the ones to feel sorry for and they had no say in who got laid off.

I do feel sorry for the people who just enjoyed working there, did their job and actually cared, like I was.

Everyone else, especially certain managers/supervisors, I don't feel sorry for.

As a whole, I don't feel sorry for a company who lays people off just to satisfy investors, when they had no money issues in the first place. Yup, I have a chip on my shoulder after getting fcked by them in more than one way, specifically by certain managers & employees.

Is what I said vague yet harsh, yup. But I'm looking at the big picture. It's a shame it's happening, but it is what it is. Most people there are keeping their job anyway, at least for the next 2 yrs. That gives them time to find something else, way more than I got.

Your inability to grasp the entire purpose of a corporate entity is embarrassing, as are these posts. Corporations aren't beholden to their employees to guarantee employment. The sooner you digest that the better.

Also I hope your digital trail is clean for the sake of your future employment prospects. If I ever was interested in hiring someone and discovered a digital trail like this I would turn and run the other way no matter what set of circumstances they came from at their previous role
