Yep. They can try to increase CAPEX but they aren't getting lenders to support. And if they reduce their dividend to increase CAPEX their stock will get hammered. It would probably get hammered if they raise CAPEX and keep the dividend
Interesting.

I would think it's just as risky not to raise capex and try to raise revenue when the price is up. Investors aren't going to like a company not optimizing pricing. Otherwise, what's the point of investing for future growth?

I understand what you are saying. Just seems like investors have been burnt so often by this sector and its past inability to live within cash flow. I guess if they can prove they are still within cash flow then they won't get dinged.

That's kind of my point.

Any other industry and the stock would crash for not investing for future returns based on the economic market (not meeting investor expectations). This industry is so out of whack and manipulated that the opposite is expected by half the population in O&G right now.

No it's not. A lot of the smaller public's need to be absorbed and PE is pretty tight. Bank lending is 1-1.5x Ebitda max and private credit is 2.5x max but you need to live sub 2x and that's gonna be 13-17% IRR paper in private credit.

Quote:

The American Petroleum Institute (API) has reported a large 5.521-million-barrel draw in U.S. crude inventories, on top of the previous week's 11.486-million-barrel draw.

Analysts were expecting a smaller inventory draw of 1.429 million barrels for the week. The total number of barrels of crude oil gained so far this year is now in the red, according to API data, and there is a net draw in crude inventories since April of almost 50 million barrels.

I should re-phrase it to more "capital discipline", even in higher price environment.

Like someone said, the stupid money from banks and lenders is not there anymore.

Nor from investors for the public companies. They are penalizing those who don't exercise capital discipline and return FCF to shareholders.

Saw an interesting graph that I can't remember where, while US land is sliding in rig count international rigs are booming.

So the loaded question about, 'Where will the next step up in supply come from?' is going to succinctly be answered with, 'everywhere but NAL.'

Will be interesting to see, the global market is just a few super major projects away from wiping out KSA's 1mm/d cut.

Here's hoping anything but shale.

I'm hearing rumblings of subsea starting to wind up.

If you listen to transocean's quarterly calls they are screaming from the rooftops that nobody is building new offshore platforms and they've got nice ones in stock. Their stock price has moved accordingly.

CVX only running 13-14 rigs in the Permian should is a good indication of efficiency gains the D&C side is seeing right now.

I still think we see rig / frac spreads continue to drop well into Q1 of next year.

That makes sense given the current US political environment. If I'm an international player, maybe I shift resources to places less hostile to my business.

Maybe they will bump Lawler up?

I always thought it was weird how Lawler is the CEO of BPX and president of BP America but not listed on their website as being part of their executive team.

The British would like you to remember the times they ruled the world. So do the French. Americans shall not be on equal footing compared to the old world. They would, though, like to thank us all for working so hard so they can take a month off for summer.

On a more practical note, if you have americans at the top of the executive reporting ladder, you can't report up or dictate down anything to with embargoed countries. And america likes to embargo countries that EU passports holders don't have those restrictions on.

So if there is an american at the top, there could be assets somewhere they technically can know nothing about, and someone else is running that show. If there is an european they can act in their formal capacity.

I just assume they decided they wanted him out and didn't like the direction he was going. So they leveraged those past accusations against him.

Past relationships wouldn't have mattered unless they were threatening lawsuits now.

It's exactly what they did. They wanted him out and found a reason f that wasn't so on the nose at failed corporate strategy.

His relationships have been no secret. He's been know for over a decade as liking the ladies. I suspect the issue is it was either brought to light that he leveraged his position in some way given a relationship or he was just plain not honest so the board can't trust him any longer (and needs to save face).
