I'm not sure they receive ESG credits for sending the gas to a field gas generator vs a contract flare operator. It burns the same.

yea but a number of companies are reporting their flare volume separately and are setting corporate goals around its reduction, so even if the emissions are the same it was gas being burned for "beneficial use" rather than wasted through a flare.

I don't think there's value add for small scale bitcoin mining in the first place, but certainly understand the reporting schematics.

Just curious. Even if the fuel is free, running a generator is expensive. Is this really cheaper than just purchasing electricity?

Good question. Depends on the scale, utility rate and power purchase agreement used to compare electricity costs.

It's not economical in Texas. Other places with more stranded gas and no ERCOT market, maybe.

I think your overestimating the value add. As much as anything, its a way to manage flaring which is the key point.
Side benefit of potentially reducing the ability of plaintiff attorneys trying to sue for gas value when an operator can't reasonably get that gas to market anytime in the near future. I'm not in the Permian, but I have to imagine those type of attorneys drive the operators' legal departments insane. I guess that's just a part of "managing flaring" too though.

Well it obviously depends on the position of each shop, but it's a scary time to be long the forwards. This winter season didn't perform at all, and you've got a WTI price that's starting to incentivize ramped up production.
I'm really interested in any further information you are able to share on this topic. Seems the 12 month strip purchased even just a year or so ago would be making an absolute killing (buying March 2022 to February 2023 futures back in 2021, I mean). Why do gas markets seem to be so illiquid more than 12, maybe 18, months out? People just afraid of the collapse like we saw over the past decade or so?

Supreme Court rejects DAPL appeal....

Maybe should just shut the 'darn' pipeline down and see how that improves commodity prices....

Is everyone having issues in regards to sand now? Is that the biggest issue y'all are seeing in 2022 at the moment?

I'm in the sand business and it's crazy right now. Luckily for us we are just getting started so demand for our product is through the roof and we're able get pricing we never thought we would. I heard yesterday that my previous company was offered $92/ton for regional sand in the Permian.

Tubulars. Just paid $4.25 for blue band TBG because it's all I could get my hands on…

Definitely hearing issues with sand. Some frac crews are running daylights instead of 24 hours due to supply limitations. Sounds like an issue of haves vs have nots.

We have seen other supply issues be it random things like small plastic containers, the materials used to make some of our chemicals, or just labor in general.

Evidently the market didn't have a full scale invasion baked into the number. Where does it go from here?

This was hinted when there was issues with Saudi Aramco vs Iranian Drones a few years ago. The oil price hasn't had any geopolitical risk baked into it for a while.

Any European / Russian pipeline is likely fine and protected by our administration.....we just have issues with the safer pipelines built in the USA that increase our own security keep energy prices lower / improve our economy....

Commodities drilled in other countries and related pipelines do not have the same climate impact as ones in the USA....

If you have pipeline in the ground I assume it has just increased in value significantly.

as we all know elections have consequences.

Hopefully Biden keeps heaping on the pain to the middle and lower classes (sorry folks but you are getting ****ed), and they see the error of their ways and vote the bums out.

President Biden just gave the industry a shoutout in his Ukraine speech, he said, and I'm paraphrasing here, that he will not allow the oil and gas industry to price gouge Americans at the pump.
