Well it obviously depends on the position of each shop, but it's a scary time to be long the forwards. This winter season didn't perform at all, and you've got a WTI price that's starting to incentivize ramped up production.

I understand what you're saying and it's absolutely the case for individuals in our personal life. But we're paying 25-50% less than we were for most services pre-pandemic. So you could say, for my company, that money goes farther. Now, availability and being able capitalize on that is a different story.

I'm just hoping our bonus announcements next month reflect oil sitting at 8 year highs. That would go a long way towards me forgetting about inflation.

Has anybody listened to the recent Joe Rogan podcast with Andrew Dessler? He is a climate scientist at A&M and says some interested things. He seems very anti fossil fuel, and I'm a little skeptical of some of his opinions. Just curious what those on this board, most of whom are smarter than I, think as it relates to the O&G industry.

Anyone got a clue who to vote for in the primary for RRC? Pretty much all I can find is that the chick posed mostly nude on a pump jack.

I am just finishing up the one before with Steve Koonin. Koonin basically says the climate change data is not even close to settled, and giving up fossil fuels won't do much, especially if just in the US.

Rogan said he wanted to have someone on to rebuttal Koonin, which sounds like Dessler. I plan to listen to Dessler after.

I did some research on the candidates that are on the ballot and my summary of that research is that I either actively don't like the candidate, or there isn't enough information available to be able to form an opinion. I'm seriously considering voting for Marvin Summers in the primary (he died in a car accident last week but will supposedly still be on the ballot due to the short timing).

You're absolutely correct and I listened to Dessler first and need to listen to Koonin. Dessler basically says Koonin is acting as a defense attorney for carbon emissions - "what Koonin says is mostly correct, technically, but it is completely ignoring the other half of the story" - paraphrasing Dessler there. Interesting discussions regardless.

I had Dessler for ATMO 101 back in the day…. Fascinating dude who made the class very interesting and engaging. Then he went full climate change doomer the last few weeks of the semester.

I've loosely followed the Twitter story about the "red bucket" well and listened to a Chuck Yates podcast with an interview of Watt. Stogner and Watt seem to have something deeper than the typical attorney-client relationship. I'm not trying to insinuate that there is anything personal between them, but Watt may be Stogner's only and fulltime client. Stogner seems to be fighting a social media battle more than actual litigation. If Beth Dutton wasn't a fictional character, I'd guess her and Stogner took all the same classes in school.

I'm not aware of any. I do know some who have done some power and land agreements. I'm convinced there's more FOMO in bitcoin than actual profit.

ConocoPhillips is doing it in North Dakota. There are plenty of people doing it in EagleFord and Permian from what I have seen on Twitter.

I was thinking along the lines of bitcoin mining hitting their balance sheet rather than selling stranded gas to miners.

I doubt that many are doing that because the miners have turnkey solutions that are skidded and just dropped on site. Oil companies don't want to get in to the business of designing their own mining rigs when someone can just pull up a trailer and hand them money for their gas.
