If you are looking for a theme, I had a cool block of names that we never used.

I named them after Texas rivers. Rio Grande, Nueces, Brazos, Frio, Canadian, etc. That would get you 10 names easily. I also named them North to South, so the northernmost location was Canadian and the southernmost was the Rio Grande.

Fivestones did this in Glasscock. Went to Energen. Now I believe Diamondback operates them.

We started out with largest mineral owner, section number, well number. After ~100 wells or so we started running into repeating mineral owner names, so we quit doing that.

Now we have prospect names, and the well names are related to the prospect name.

Just pick something with a lot of names. It's not hard.

We're coming up on ~300 wells drilled as a company. If anyone has an idea of names for a prospect that's not ridiculous, we just go with it. No one wants to spend time on well names anymore.

Other than bad PR, does anything come from this? I can't fathom how scary that was. Unless they were injured I can't imagine they could sue even though they put them in extreme danger.

I'm sure heads will roll and people will get paid. The owner and shell have a duty to protect the people on board. If there is negligence found, and I assume a good lawyer can find some somewhere, it could probably get bad. While the storm did move fast, I think there was ample time to vacate the area, but of course won't know without all of the facts. If it is found that the well was taking precedence over the people you better believe some money is going to change hands.

Because no one died and there were only a couple injuries, maybe the folks on board might get some sort of settlement and opt out of legal action. I have a friend who was on a Fugro boat that sank and he received tens of thousands of dollars and signed certain rights away.

All I know is that I am incredibly relieved they made it through the storm with only the damage they had.

Class and flag will be all over that boat and whatever other regulatory bodies oversee the drillships these days as well. I think it was bsee when I left GoM. Probably others as well. I'd assume we will see a report outlining everything but as there was no loss of life, id imagine it kind of disappears from the public eye.

Anyone given any thought to a Products reserve operation? Problem rearing its head again in the wake of a storm. Tough nut to crack. Saw Garyville is using generator power to keep Terminal ops going.

When I lived in Singapore, they built a reserve of 18 million barrels that was 50% crude and 50% refined products. And that was just so they could play the trading market and didn't count all of the tank farms there. Seems like it would make sense to maintain strategic reserves of refined products.

Alright this is pretty big, that Ingleside terminal is a big deal

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2021-09-07/enbridge-to-buy-moda-for-3-billion-in-bet-on-u-s-oil-exports

Quote:

The deal includes Ingleside Energy Center, near Corpus Christi, Texas. Built in 2018, it's North America's largest crude export terminal, which loaded 25% of all U.S. Gulf Coast crude exports last year. Enbridge will also acquire a 20% stake the Cactus II Pipeline, which connects the Permian with the Gulf Coast, plus the Viola pipeline and the Taft Terminal.

much smarter people than me can comment - but what I read is global tight gas market, increasing demand for LNG exports, flat natural gas production, economic activity increasing faster than expected...

So you're saying killing those pipeline projects may not have been smart in the long run.

Plenty of Natural Gas pipelines to get product out. - most of the cancelled projects were crude. I suspect this is more of a production issue but I'm Midstream/pipeline.

Sure.

But what they are saying is the price is spiking because the focus is on exports because of tightening demand. Therefore it much harder to get supply regionally here domestically. There was a reason the pipelines were proposed. It wasn't lack of demand or an expectation to lose money.

Spike in NYMEX today is a little harder to pinpoint as opposed to yesterday's move. Cash markets have been weaker across the board today, so its not correlated to phys.

I assume the pipeline you are talking about is Keystone XL - it is a crude oil pipeline.

Atlantic Coast Pipeline & Mountain Valley are the 2 that come to mind for natural gas. I haven't kept up with it as much, but the constant legal challenges and regulations haven't been kind to any type of pipeline since 2009.

Atlantic Coast is fully canceled. Sold pipe to other projects.

Mountain Valley is still under construction. My specific spread will be going for several months before completion. No clue on others.

Other large gas pipelines delayed and or canceled over previous years are...
Constitution Pipeline (canceled)
EQT Southgate (no telling)
Whitewater BANGL (delay / cancelled)
PennEast (delay)
Alaska LNG (perm delay)
Driftwood (delay)

Several LNG feeds are scheduled, but they have been scheduled since the 2016 timeframe and never gone anywhere.

So in a case like this, are there "though shall not flare" memos sent out?

Or is it just to difficult to switch strategies?

Yes, we had some stranded gas that now makes sense to tie in.
