Ha I understand. Just pointing out it's not environmentally friendly to blow up a pipeline.
We have to destroy the environment to save it.

I by no means support terrorism, but isn't that sort of the logic behind hunting for a lot of people?

No - the logic behind hunting is conservation. Manage and conserve resources, so they can be enjoyed for future generations.

I know of an incident where a .50 caliber hole was found in the side of a crude rail car. It was empty at the time and didn't set off the vapor. Happened days after I joined the industry, bit of a wakeup call.

Wow. Have you ever met a hunter?

Some hunters hunt to eat. Some for trophies. Both generally follow some pretty strict guidelines as far as on what and why they pull the trigger.

I'll try to give you a little different answer.

Hunters and especially conservationists are doing what they do solely to improve the habitat and environment. Better heard numbers that are better supported by the habit which provides healthier animals is often the byproduct.

I tried to come up with a similar comparison to what you tried to make, and I can't because it just doesn't make sense. I mean, I guess it would be like killing all the deer on your property to somehow justify improving the deer. You know destroying what you claim to want to protect.

I'm not sure the enviro-wackos can put together a device that would rupture the heavy wall stuff. I've seen a 3/4 ton truck hit a valve setting wth pipe and fittings on each side and it just scuffed up the FBE.
yea, but what about when they find something like the SDR 17 gas gathering system that was installed by our former gas gatherer in west texas. they might rupture that pipe just by trying to strap the device to it. not all pipelines these guys may find are built to the same standards as the major stuff that Kinder and ET are building.

Natural selection will take care of the morons tampering with poly gas gathering lines.

Nah. Go to a Ducks Unlimited banquet, or similar.
I think that, to be very honest with you, I do believe that we should have rightly believed, but we certainly believe that certain issues are just settled.

For what it's worth, my buddy who works at Energy Transfer doesn't think this happened near ET's line. He's also confused why they mention DAPL and Central Texas.

The Kinder Morgan site has been well documented:

Do any of you have any good sources of industry reporting all in one place?

Not looking for opinions from some LinkedIn/Twitter talking head or thought leader. Interested in API/EIA/Argus reports, SEC filings, etc. all in one place. Thanks!

Not entirely sure a free source with everything you listed exists.

I would recommend RBN Energy though. They have well thought out daily articles spanning the entire industry. There's also a paid component to the site, but the free content is still well done.

Demand worries, strengthening dollar, you name it.

Rigs picking back up as well. Lots of murmuring of 'restarting drilling' in late Q3 to early Q4.

While the downturn has taken a bite out of future wells, there's still a glut of DUCs and well as fully functioning wells that are ready to spring back to life. Once that oil and the storage glut gets spoken for, you'll see prices break out upwards.

I think we're going to see $30 again before we see $50.

I agree, if I had to bet I would say $30 before $50. This is negative to say but we almost need the optimism to be gone before we will start to see a recovery both in pricing as well as in meaningful activity. The industry as a whole is coming to the realization that we aren't going to be bailed out by big acquisitions by the majors and we aren't going to be bailed out by price. The faster we get there the better, only then can we begin to climb back out.

I was reading a forum post on another site where discussion about the state of the oil and gas industry is typically lively and insightful.

I came upon a recent post in which the author essentially claimed that not only would a Democratically-held Congress be able to ban fracking on federal lands, but that they could create water quality, air quality, and noise reduction legislation that could render fracking prohibitively expensive.

My understanding is that Congress can really only regulate fracking on federally-owned lands, would they really be so far reaching as to regulate such things on privately owned lands?

They do that by weaponizing the EPA. They make their own rules and laws.

Under Obama EPA tried to regulate away fracking through regulation of greenhouse gas emissions during well completion. Courts eventually tossed it because their greenhouse gas limits were not based on anything in the clean air act.

Would be simple enough for a Dem congress And Pres to pass an amendment to clean air act to include limits on greenhouse gases.

They can't bypass the Clean Air Act, so they are limited in what they can do. Since most of the major "studies" they based changed on for NSPS OOOOa were literal fabrications and garbage data and because the industry has worked with the agencies to develop actual data it's going to be a lot harder for them to actually do anything at this point.

The industry itself wants to do things the right way, which has actually helped to make it harder for major changes to occur moving forward.

I'd be shocked to see a drilling restart in this commodity environment. With the strip being pulled down by the recent few days, not much outside of a few spots in the Permian would achieve the ROR hurdle needed to commence. But then we've done this before so nothing would surprise me.
