Real estate is always a good option if you are comfortable with it. If not you can move backwards pretty quick.

I personally wouldn't go through the headache of being a landlord for 2% net return on cash. You can beat that all day in the stock market. I shoot for at least 15% and then when you figure in depreciation, and capital appreciation of the property your investments return is magnified.
