Still trying to find a way to move to Colorado... Just came back to Houston from our annual Colorado summer vacation.
My wife and I met in Colorado. She lived there a total of 10 years and I was there 5 years. I'm from Texas but grew up vacationing in Colorado, so I knew what I was getting into when I moved up there.
It was a great experience, but there is something about living in Texas that is more fulfilling. We still vacation up there, and Colorado will always be there, but it lost its luster after several years. We have enjoyed living in Houston more than we thought we would. Colorado is incredibly unchurched, which is one of the reasons we felt it was time to move back to Texas. That may or may not be important to everyone.
I can tell you that although property is expensive, property taxes and insurance are fractions of what they cost in Texas. And you don't have massive electric bills in the summer - - my home up there didn't even have air conditioning.
Good luck with your decision . . .
