Howdy Denver Ags - I just got laid off from my oil and gas job from major oil field services company. 4 years experience in oil and gas operations industry as a field engineer. Management, customer service, tool technology, remote operations, leadership, and just about any skill to be ready in the business world i have developed working in on demand, time essential industry. Seeing if anyone knows of any companies hiring in the Denver area.

Currently looking in engineering, IT, business technology, IT, environmental fields but open to any field. Any job leads, contacts, recruiters contacts would be appreciated. To everyone else, probably about to start bombarding this thread w/ questions as we get ready to move.

Probably the wrong forum, but this thread looked busier than anything I saw over in Travel.

I'll be visiting Denver for a few days in late April with the girlfriend, and looking for a few recommendations.

We're both young, and will not have a car unfortunately, so we'll be relying on walking/uber/etc.

What areas should we look into staying? We want to be next to good bars, food, activities.

Any restaurant/brewery recs?

Any places nearby we could do some hiking/outdoorsy things? Estes park would be nice, but it's about 90 minutes from Denver if I recall.

Any other ideas are also appreciated.

Stay in LoDo. Thank me later.

Stay in: Capitol Hill, LoDo or even City Park. Check out B-Cycle (for bike share and getting around) as well as RTD rail and bus system.

Restaurants: Root Down, Euclid Hall, Vine St. (great beer too), Uoki, Uncle, Work & Class

Brewery: Strange, Great Divide Barrel Bar, Our Mutual Friend, Crooked Stave (sours), Vine St. (as mentioned above)

Hiking around Boulder is great, Golden has some good spots too. You can take the W-line all the way to golden and a bus in golden to get around. Check out Botanical gardens and/or Denver Art museum if you're into that.

I can recommend dispensaries too if interested lol.

Boulder has some great easier hikes that are easy to get to from Denver.

I highly recommend renting a car and going to Estes Park. Totally worth it.

HowdY! I just accepted a job in Denver, and will be moving up there mid May. I'm looking to live near Wash Park or Cheesman Park if possible. Anyone know of rooms for rent? I'd prefer to rent a room in a house instead of a 1 bed apartment. My budget is $800-1200, depending on where and how big the room is.

I'll be up there May 5-9 to look for housing, then trying to get everything moved in the two weeks after that.

Why those area specifically?

I thought it would be nice to live near a big park, and also be able to get downtown easily. Also looking in the Aurora area but don't want to go further out than that.

What part of town are you working? I may be able to talk my wife into renting out a room for near the bottom of your range. But we live in Littleton but we are close to parks, foothills for hiking, etc. Near C470 and Bowles if you want to look it up on a map. Pretty easy to get to downtown on 285 or a short drive to the light rail (which we do). We have a finished basement with a bedroom and full bathroom. We don't use the basement much other than the weekend or when I get on the treadmill.

That's probably further away than I want to get. I'd like to be closer to downtown. I appreciate the offer though!

I'm hoping to get involved with the A&M club when I get there. Is it pretty active?

My fianc recently accepted a job in Denver and is moving up there in late May. I have decided to relocate there as well if the opportunity presents itself but would like to hang on to my job as long as possible. I currently work at a midstream O&G company in Houston as a crude pipeline scheduler and have close to 3 years of experience in pipeline, trucking, and railcar operations as a scheduler. My ultimate goal is to work in the commercial or marketing sector of the O&G industry, however, I am willing to work in any role that suits my background as I know the market is reeling right now. Has anyone taken the new rail that goes from the airport to Union Station? I have an interview downtown this Friday and thought it would be nice to take that there and back on Friday.

I haven't, but a few friends have and said it worked well. I'd allow for a little extra time but you should be fine.

Yes, it's awesome. About 40 minutes trip one way.

Thanks for the feedback! Anything else I should know as far as schedules, or getting to the rail in the airport? I assume there will be a ton of signs.

speaking of the new line, anyone have any experience parking at one of the park and rides and taking the train to the aiport? Thinking about doing this for a 17 day trip in Jul to save some money.

Just make sure you license plates areally pegged to a house in RTD. Otherwise you'll get a ticket.

I wouldn't trust leaving my car in a park and ride for two and a half weeks

1. The RTD worked great for my interview. Was just over 35 minutes to Union Station once it left and easy going back as well.
2. Sounds like our family is going to have a big decision. They'd like me to make the move and relocate to our Denver. It's always been somewhat of a dream for us, however were caught in the family vs CO lifestyle debate I'm sure many of you had to deal with. I'm really pretty torn about it overall. Especially after spending all day at my moms with our son, my two sisters and my nephew. I think it just takes more intentional time with family if we do it.

Don't hear too many people regretting moving to Denver. Just do it. Always good to have more Ags in town.
