How are CB and Steamboat? I know Eldora is what it is. I love Mary Jane. Never been to Copper either.

Went to CB and really enjoyed it. Lots of extreme terrain off of the loan peak which I don't mess with too much. Steamboat is my favorite of the resorts I've been to. Awesome town nowhere near as much of Denver traffic as the I-70 resorts, and the folks both at the mountain and business in town just seem a lot more friendly there than other resort towns I've been to.

I've heard other people say things similar to what you have said, which is good. My Epic pass just renewed with my deposit, and I didn't realize it. Looks like I'll be stuck with that if they don't let me cancel.

I checked Steamboat out last summer and went to Strawberry Park Hot Springs. Both the springs and the town were really cool.

According to my app I just logged just under 32k & 33 miles. Don't know how accurate the thing is but you can get a lot of runs in when you're skiing by yourself

It knows, lifts have the Rf reader and each lift has associated height with it. Or something like that.

heading up in July for a concert, and we're looking for a cool hotel. Any suggestions on neighborhoods for places to stay?

I want to stay in The Crawford hotel soon. It is the completely remodeled Union Station and it is a really cool place from walking through it and having a drink.

Others might be the Brown Palace, The Magnolia, Hotel Monaco. But my wife works downtown and traveled here a ton before we moved and we both thought of the Crawford first.

Take Thriller's advice, especially if you're not under a strict budget. Going to a Red Rocks show?

Yeah, Avett Brothers in July for my birthday. I'll look into the Crawford. If that ends up being too expensive, is that a good neighborhood to look for others?

Nice that will be an awesome show there. Yeah that's right in Downtown/LoDo area. If you're wanting to stay somewhere close to great food, bars and breweries you got it there or in that area. Mercantile Dining & Provisions is inside the renovated Union Station (kind of pricey but great food). There's Wynkoop brewery close to there too which has pretty good beer and great food for the price, in my opinion. Epic Brewing is close by as well, and they are probably one of my top 5 favorite breweries in this area of CO. There's tons to do in that part of town.

It's expensive. That's downtown - plenty of hotels up and down the 16th St. Mall area as well.

I am actually trying to move to that area from Dallas. My degree was in Agricultural Economics. However my career experience over the last 5 years has been in Healthcare and Fire/EMS. I simply wanted to serve the community. Over that time I found that my mind appreciates while my body depreciates. Now I am currently looking for more a business culture in either sales, purchasing or analyst. If anybody knows of anything between Denver and Fort Collins it would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks and Gig em!

The Terminal bar in Union Station is great. And since Snooze is amazing, too (and Hopdoddy), you wouldn't have to leave the area to have a great time if you stayed at the Crawford. I work a block away and love the neighborhood (LoDo).

Who all is taking the day off Friday for the **it show that is Opening Day? The biggest party of the year in Denver. I'll be there.

I work next door to Coors at 19th and Wazee, and the firm always buys our tickets to the Opening Day game (along with beers every inning or so)....so yeah, I'll be there.

MW03 - Check out the Curtis hotel...it's in downtown, next to the performing arts area, and is usually decently priced. Rooms are a little small, but it's hip and trendy, and recently renovated. Parking is expensive there though, so keep that in mind if you are renting a car.

You could also do a VRBO as another option...I'm sure you could find something around Morrisson/Red Rocks, or on the west side of town (Golden area) if you didn't want to stay in Downtown.

So how are you transplants holding up with the weather? I always eyeball it when I see lots of snow and low temps wondering if can truly hack it without being miserable.
First winter here, and I really cannot complain. I love having all four seasons. I was ready for summer to end so I could ski, and now I'm ready for winter to end so I can climb mountains again. Always something amazing and fun to do no matter the season.

In all seriousness, I just got back from the CT/NY area and that place would be terrible to live in winter. A lot of our snow drops in a day or two, and then the temps warm, the sun comes out and it all melts away. You cannot beat living in this beautiful state and still having some big city amenities and job access in the Denver metro area. I would never even consider moving back to Texas.
I agree with everything you said. I've lived in Denver for about 3 years now and it really is a one-of-a-kind city.

But to be completely honest, I've had the hardest time breaking into the social scene here. I know a good number of people but for some reason it's been pretty lonely here. I'm about to finish up grad school at DU and I'm considering moving back to Texas pretty much for this reason alone. It's frustrating, considering the fact that Denver really is an amazing city and at times I feel like I'd be insane to leave. Maybe it's just difficult for some people to leave their home state.

Man, that's a bummer for sure! Do you have any big hobbies out here? I've met lots of people skiing (mostly at the bars), and also climbing 14ers and getting involved with group meet ups etc. I don't go out downtown too often, but also have some friends I've met at breweries locally.

Yeah, I go to Wash Park all the time because I live near there. I run and play volleyball there when I can. I used to go to meetups but I stopped because I was always the youngest one there by about 10 years. Not a fan of the LoDo crowd (during the night), it's way too bro-tastic. I ski from time to time, went to almost every Aggie watch party the past 3 seasons, I'm really involved in my crossfit gym, did Denver Cruisers pretty often last summer. Should definitely hit more 14ers once summer rolls around.

Lots of the people I meet just fade away after a while. Maybe I just don't really click with Denver people? Idk man, it can just be tough to leave home sometimes.

Indeed it can be. I've only been here a year but I couldn't wait to leave CS and the Houston area. Hit me up if you ever want to climb. LoDo is not very fun IMO. I go to Cruisers a lot as well maybe I'll catch you out there once it kicks back up.

Hadn't thought about it. As long as I'm not on the East Coast for business, I'll be there. Gonna be hitting some 14ers in the spring conditions if you are interested.
