I don't remember having this wet of snow in December.

Man it's coming down. We got about 3 inches in maybe 2-3 hours?

What kind of snow blower do yall recommend? That was heavy snow.

ended up with 9-10" in my driveway.

snowblower rec - you can go big, but it's only going to get used to its full potential once or twice a year, for stuff like this. Then it sits in your garage or shed for the other 360 days a year. That being said, I have a pretty decent sized one I got off CL years ago. At some point I may go battery powered to match my Toro 60V set.

You can get a much cheaper smaller, single stage good for up to about 3-4".

I don't know that brands really matter, again because it aint being used that much. Way less than yard tools.

I love my 24" Craftsman two stage. Highly recommend. We have a long corner lot so it comes in really handy. I don't think it's overkill… I see my neighbor's electric blowers struggle with 3 inches. Lately I've been doing our entire block's sidewalk. It's fun to do and with a big blower it's not much slower than just walking the block.

I love neighbors like you. I was in Houston for this last snow and saw on my cameras someone use their snowblower on my sidewalk and driveway.

On my street we have great neighborly camaraderie. For this snow, my neighbor, using my machine, did another neighbor down the street who were driving home late that night.

And I've shoveled the driveway next door many times because husband is traveling for work. They have a wheelchair bound child, so I'll shovel a path from their van to garage door.
I almost always do the mailbox area which is two houses down.

I enjoy doing it. It's relaxing for me, takes the mind off of life for a while.

I have a Toro single stage that works just fine. It's compact and starts easily. It'll handle up to 6 inches no problem and more if you just cut your path in half. If it's a major storm you have to stay ahead of the accumulation but those are few and far between on the front range.

And if you don't snowblow the sidewalk at least as far as the nearest two stop signs if you're first out then you're a dick. That's basic decency as a neighbor.

the whole street?
We have streets in my hood with 40 houses between stop signs. That would suck for them!

I'm not that generous.

Snow tires... is this a must? I know nothing about them.

edit - ok, now I know a little bit about them... seems like a good idea. thoughts?

Don't think they are necessary. We've done fine with all season tires

They're worth it if you can change and store them easily by yourself and you live in someplace like Evergreen, Monument, Estes, etc.

I think both responses above are correct. Most people don't need them. But if you live in the foothills and can change them yourself you should.

We bought my wife a FWD Atlas the year before we moved here since we were in Houston (recall the conversation with the dealer now when he asked if we spent much time in Colorado), so I spent the money for some Blizzaks in 2019 to ease her mind. I bought a rack that I put in the garage for storage and it works great. Once I got rid of my 2WD F150 that made it through 2 winters, I bought a 4wd explorer and just run All seasons on it.

Snow tires are fantastic. May not need them, but they're fantastic and provide confidence.

If going into mountains for skiing a lot, awd/4wd is necessary and recommend one of these: 3peak tires you don't have to switch out or go for full winter tires and switch in summer. I do winters and buddy switched to 3 peaks with good results. Now will say he had Subaru with all seasons for like 3 years and won't get stuck just have to be careful as you will slip around a lot more.

In Denver, awd and all seasons are fine just be careful and realize you will slip around more. Do winters with fwd till you sell the car to be safe.

9" down in parker. Not too bad.
I still had 6-8" of it piled up along edge of my driveway, so it's a big ol' pile now.

Nice area, a lot more weather up there so you may want those snow tires. Monument hill gets about twice the snow broadmoor gets

Yes we will be upgrading the tires very soon. We are only renting for now, will buy something in about 9 months or so once we know more about the area.

I don't know your price range or where you commute to, but broadmoor bluffs is an incredible place to live.

My drive was fine yesterday. My wife and the kids came up later (stayed behind to see her fam) and they had a pretty scary experience.

I may not have looked at the right website, but is what you're talking about a trap & skeet club?

I'm looking for more of a rifle range that can reach out to at least 100 yards.

It's a drive, but there is a range at the Pawnee Grasslands. Gets crowded on the weekends sometimes and you get typical *******s who don't follow rules about trash. But it is free and not busy during the week usually. Road in and out can be rough.
