My head is about to explode "Scanners"-style with the pitches the Astros have been missing. Flat, juicy, tantalizing cupcake sliders up in the zone and they're not absolutely punishing this guy.

I agree. Right there is part of the reason Lance isn't in a groove. He's not swinging the bat especially well, but they still don't really want to pitch to him even with Lee hitting well.

First of all, I thought horses were suppose to be fast.. Can he be any slower.. Secondly, the astros are pressing and have no confidence in the bottom of the line up.. If they did, they would have stopped Lee at third.

Carlos can run the bases, but it was a hard hit liner that one bounces right to the center fielder and the CF had it before Lee ever even rounded 3rd. The book says you send the runner with 2 outs, but you don't ALWAYS follow the book.

Palmeiro is awesome, nice effort on that play...looked like he really belongs out there.

Give Lee a break. Most baserunners would be thrown out at home with a line drive short base hit to center. As an outfielder, you couldn't ask for a better chance to get an outfield assist.

Biggio was in a hit and run. Lamb missed the part about hitting the ball. This will almost always result in a throw out. If you want to blame someone, blame Lamb for not doing his part.

Ausmus was trying to be aggressive, just got caught a little to far off. I would want players to be a little aggressive on the bases.

You have to send Lee with two outs there. Unfortunately he is not the fleetest of foot.

Sometimes you have to take some chance. If an of these things would have been a positive result, you would have been all over how great of plays they were. They didn't work, so you now b*tch about the team. Combined with everyones take on the lineups, I am really glad that none of you are the manager. Bingo, got news for most...Willy Taveras probably would've been out at home on that play.

Garner needs to pick a lineup and stick with it.. this changing the line up crap everyday needs to stop..at leats go a week with the same line up.. the whole team is screwed in the head.. nothing worse than watching bad baseball...

dc, while I agree with you, a team like the Astros only gets so many chances a game. When you waste them on mental errors, and crao yourself out of probable run scoring situations, people are going to be pissed.

a.) legitimately hate Phil Garner and give him the Dennis Franchione treatment

b.) people who are just frustrated with watching bad baseball.

I know that I really would be upset on the day that Garner was fired and would feel horrible for the guy...right now, I (and I think most people that spend their nights here griping with me) fall into that b category.

By the way, Palmeiro would've doubled in two runs and this game would be tied if the Astros kept their heads together on the bases in the first 3 innings. (admittedly hypothetical...but c'mon)

mazag, I would probably be the maddest at Ausmus about his. But the other two are things you will sometimes have to live with to try to manufacture runs. If Lamb was such a great hitter like most people on this board think, then it's a no brainer for Garner to put on the hit and run to try to get Biggio to third or at worst stay out of the DP. But it didn't work, so let's blame Garner because Lamb can't hit the ball tonight.
