I still think Leiter can be a #2 type pitcher. Probably not an ace but maybe. He had 2 outs after throwing 13 pitches. He just lets it get away sometimes.

I find it completely hilarious that a franchise slotting DeGrom and Eovaldi as our 1-2 punch is completely unable to field a team that will compete for a playoff spot, even with a massively expanded playoff bracket.

It's maddening, sometimes it just doesn't go your way. You can't point the finger at one specific person. We aren't born with enough fingers to point out all the things that are going wrong with this franchise right now.

This will be 9 out of 10 seasons without a winning record. You're talking Colorado Rockies territory at this point.

My worst fear about Leiter is that we cannot develop him into a TORP and that he is just a guy at best here, after you draft him 2nd and is as close to being a sure thing as you could draft. Then, he leaves here and Tampa Bay or Minnesota or the A's turn him into an all star reliever.

Idk I think he's about tapped out. He's added a changeup, and his arsenal has gotten better. But his issue is, has and always will be fastball control. He cannot put his fastball where he wants and needs, and it gets absolutely whacked. You could say the same about a lot of his pitches tbh.
