It's impossible to overstate how awful this team is… and the offense is better than the pitching.

It never fails to make me laugh listening to 790 on the radio at how ill-timed some of the ads are

This morning it was a voiceover saying "the roof might be closed but the Astros window is always open"

Me walking to work this morning after deciding to take the night off and not to watch or listen to a single inning of Astros baseball

The only game of that debacle of a series the team won was when Espada got ejected early and Omar filled in as manager.

To get to his Bingo square of a 3.50 ERA, Tatsuya Imai would need to finish the year by pitching 35 straight scoreless innings.

Astros' Flashback: August 21, 1966. Astros' pitcher Dave Giusti has the all-around performance of a lifetime, pitching a six-hit 11-0 shutout of the Reds and contributing 6 RBI with two bases-loaded doubles. Giusti improves to 13-10, on his way to becoming the Astros' first 15-game winner. The hitting isn't a fluke, he bats .230 in 1966 with 9 RBI and 6 doubles in 74 at-bats. Years later with Pittsburgh when he has moved to the bullpen, he'll bat .308 (4 for 13) in 1973 and .300 (3 for 10) in 1975. His 6 RBI for the Astros stands as a team record for 23 years until it's broken by my dad's favorite player, Rafael Ramirez, in 1989 in a 10-9 loss to the Cubs.

I don't think he wins a Triple Crown. I don't think he wins an MVP.

He's going to get pitched the rest of the way the same way he is now. Down and away/out. He can either walk or get himself out. At best he's muscling singles. He has no one in front of him to drive in a run and no one behind him to protect him even the slightest. If he does start to hit balls with any power teams will just go back to IBBs. It's already worked once.

Watching how opponents are pitching to our batters weaknesses makes me wonder what does our advance scouting department actually do in preparing game plans on how our pitchers attack opponents? The Mariners and Angels were basically teeing off like they knew what was coming.
