I've only heard this on this message board, other than the report of Crane nixing the Abreu trade to the Twins.

I'm not saying it's not true, just that this is not some prevailing thought on the Astros overall in terms of national or local media, etc. Maybe I've just missed it.

It was all talked about when Click was let go after winning the WS. Bagwell was also known to be in Crane's ear at the time. It was well known then that no real GM candidates wanted this job because of the way Crane ran things.

Regarding Meyers, remember that he had shoulder surgery before the 2022 season for a torn labrum. I'm not sure he has the same arm strength now.

I was stunned to see he never played in the World Series. The Angels and Yankees were both good when he was there, but no such luck.

Every team has them of course, but imagining the late 90s Astros with Abreu and Kenny Lofton in the OF is a dizzying alternate history.

When I think of most underrated players of my (born in 1992) generation, the two guys who immediately come to mind are Lance Berkman and Bobby Abreu.

He had a full season in 23, injured after 5 appearances in 24, and only got half a season returning last year. So this is really his second full season if he stays healthy.

I think Refsnyder would be an add for a bench/Dezenzo replacement. He kills LHP (or did in the past, only a .506 OPS v LHP this year)

Andrew McCutcheon has been DFA'd - would take him to replace Dezenzo as right handed bat off the bench. Surely he would be better even at age 38.

Not quite sure what Seattle is doing. Like is that basically stayed with the pay hand at the deadline. I really expected them to be much more aggressive. This is really anti DiPoto.

DiPoto is also the guy that said "let's play .540 ball" a few offseasons ago, he's been aggressive in the past, but I think he has reservations about his own club's construction.

I bet he had reservations on his catcher's ability to play without being a science experiment.

I would rather open the Bingo spreadsheet, randomly pick a poster, and have them pinch-hit than ever see Dezenzo at the plate again. It must be agonizing to be any of our OF in Sugarland - a 30 minute drive from Daikin (or a 4-hour drive in rush hour) seeing this idiot on the roster doing jack squat.

Power is his carrying tool, but his contact isn't enough to get the power to show up on the field. He was a boom/bust pick out of Ohio St. Not a huge prospect by any means.

Reminds me of a guy we used to have as a client many years ago named Duncan Douglas. Several of the ladies in the office referred to him as Duncan Donuts in passing. I never joined in because I knew if I did I would for sure be the one to end up slipping up and calling him that on a call he was on.
