Faustus did, using the same small data set of less than 20 games played in LF. Thinking that his hitting will get better when playing LF is such a crazy idea that it is borne out over his entire career as being real and significant.

Better ZDezenzo just dropped (in the sense that he has relatively succeeded at the big league level), that platoon split isn't great, but better than PHing Jake Meyers. Not sure why we're so reticent on Soler/Refsnyder (besides them both having major flaws lol)

The Astros claimed Nelson Velázquez off waivers from the Cardinals and designated Shay Whitcomb for assignment. Velázquez is a right-handed hitting outfielder with a career .739 OPS against left-handed pitching

He's got more pop than any RH outfielder in the majors or upper levels other than Cam Smith. It's not much but it's an upgrade over what we have in that department.

It is certainly not an exciting pickup, but he is a better hitter than DeZenzo or Meyers for the last spot on the bench. He is simply a platoon partner for Trammell who has been brutal against LHP.

Going into next season, I would be planning to have Trammell and Cam Smith platoon as both are platoon vulnerable. Trammell is plenty good against RHP, despite his WAR being destroyed by surprisingly (questionably?) poor defensive grades. That would be a strong platoon in the corner, then you would just need to upgrade the other spots.

I hate to bag on now two of our OFs' defense, but I'd say Trammell earned those defensive demerits going recency bias. In one recent game he let two playable fly balls land after initial missteps.

Again, some of us dont care if we win the division only to get smoked by an actual decent team in the playoffs. The future remains the future - trending down. I am not saying his defense is plus or even arguing against a negative rating, but BR absolutely destroys him on their dWAR calculation, while I would say he is plenty serviceable, especially as a guy who can competently play all three OF positions. I can think of a LOT of worse OF than Trammell, yet his dWAR would suggest he is one of the worst.
