Altuve needs to be bottom 1/3 of the lineup until further notice.
Put him at leadoff. With our 7-8-9, he will never hit another GIDP this season.
Yeah. Those old legs and batting avg say something different…

Great, this is all we need. Giving Crane and Brown hope.

last night was the Marlins' 8th loss-in-a-row
they are not very good
for me, both Pena and Paredes are essentially rentals given next season's uncertainty. There's a limit to the value you can gain in a trade under the current circumstances. Not saying you definitely don't make a move, but it's not gonna be a silver bullet top-50 prospect.EABC_AG said:
So are we about to squander an incredible sellers market for Pena and Paredes for the hope of a wild card round loss?

I mean that's better than trading top prospects for rentals or back of the rotation starters but my only counterpoint is this is a massively be sellers market. The offseason will not be so you are almost certainly passing up a better package if you wait. Also extending Pena has nothing to do with Dana. That's a Jim call and if he hasn't done it yet why would he do it at an even higher price tag this offseason?
MaxPower said:
Scenario A: Stand pat and hope you make the playoffs. This may be forced by Jim to avoid doing anything stupid but is a scenario that almost certainly means Dana is DOA. The best outcome is we snake into the playoff as a garbage .500-ish team and get bounced from the playoffs early, which won't be enough to impress Jim.
Scenario B: Trade prospects for rentals and hope you make a run. I don't know how deep a run is good enough to merit an extension, I'd say at least to the ALCS. Of course you could still just miss the playoffs entirely and have an even crappier farm system, which leads to a host of long-term problems (i.e. does a good GM candidate even want to take over that mess?).
Scenario C: Trade prospects in a rebuild. This would have to be a demand from Jim, one that is highly unlikely, and it's hard to envision a scenario where he would then extend Dana (there won't be enough info to tell if those trades were "good" or "bad" for years potentially).
From Tom Verducci: Including the luxury tax penalty, the Dodgers are paying $119.7 million this season for Kyle Tucker’s services, more than the Opening Day payrolls of 11 teams. He has accumulated less than 1 WAR amidst the worst season of his career offensively and defensively. pic.twitter.com/EpSAFPLJmS

I would trade Pena and Paredes yesterday.. Neither of them factor into our plans in the future so get everything you can out of them. I'd consider moving Brown as well. You should be able to get quite a haul for those 3 and set up a future run, hopefully. I'd never trade Yordan.
The Astros are trading reliever Nate Pearson to the Kansas City Royals, sources tell @TheAthletic
