Cutch can't run for squat anymore but his eye at the plate is amazing. Will be interesting to see how he plays with the ABS

The final roster cut will be interesting this year for sure. There are multiple utility type guys competing for a spot and now McCutchen is added to the mix.

No cost flier. He had a 113 OPS+ last year vs LH, so maybe a platoon option for Joc/Carter. He was still a good overall hitter in 2024.

Pretty good signing. Not expecting him to do anything crazy this season but I think it's good to add a respected veteran voice in the locker room.

In Philly.....

Small sample size, but Adolis has played in 5 games with 14 at bats.

Hitting .214. No homers. No walks. NO STRIKEOUTS.

Dang it, I always knew he was capable of embracing small ball.

Getting Judge to DIDP with the bases loaded was impressive.

Alexis Diaz gets rocked in ST game yesterday. 5 earned runs with three walks in 0.0 innings of relief.

His ERA this spring is 43.20 in 3 appearances. Woof.

He'd better show something quick or I can't seem him making the OD roster.

He has a $1 MM guaranteed contract, so he'll get every opportunity.

He'll get every opportunity, but $1M is peanuts in the current market. They could cut him loose tomorrow and not even blink.

Am I the only Rangers fan that didn't realize Beji Gil is a Mexican?
God loves you so much He'll meet you where you are. He also loves you too much to allow to stay where you are.

And not Mexican like Ryan Prager is Israeli. Actually born in Mexico. That was news to me.

Yeah. I looked it up because I was surprised he was coaching Mexico. Sure enough. He was born in Mexico.

I was fooled by Jarren Duran and Alek Thomas.

I thought Alek Thomas is from Chicago. Probably has Mexican relatives.

Just checked before posting but Thomas was indeed born in Chicago.

Edit: And Duran was born in California.

A healthy, healthy chunk of these guys playing in the WBC are from the United States or similar country, born and raised, but are playing for another country due to having a grandparent or something similar who is from that country.

WBC eligibility rules are as loose as they get. I mean team Brazil has multiple Japanese guys on it and a Bichette brother lol. And while it's gimmicky as hell, I think it's good for the game to have people from all around the world, and hopefully inspire a few more kids from these countries to pick up a ball and glove.

I understand all of that. The other countries would be fielding little leaguers, except DR, PR, and Japan, if the rules weren't lax.

Re: Japanese players on the Brazil team, there is apparently a large Japanese population in Brazil dating back to the 1800s.

Sorry if that sounded like man-splaning as well lol. I had a feeling most on here already knew that but for anyone else thought I'd post.

The rules of very loose. If you've ever eaten a bagel, you can play for Israel.

Their manage is Japanese as well. I think that's when they brought it up the other day was talking about him.

deGrom went 3.0 innings, no runs, 5 Ks, 1 BB, and only 2 singles allowed.

Joc Pederson went 0 for 3 with a strikeout. So far this spring he's hitting .182 with a .462 OPS.

I'm sticking with my prediction that he'll be gone by the All Star break. Sooner if McCutchen and Canha show they still have something in the tank.

So pretty much just like last year for Pederson.

Was just listening to the mid-camp podcast by Evan and Kevin Sherrington. A quote from Evan:
"Alexis Diaz has probably lost his opportunity in the bullpen"
