Skenes and Ms Dunne. I'll call it even.

If they aren't moving Duran or Abreu the Mayer is the only one that I'm mildly interested in.
No clue who the Pirates have to offer. Barco is an interesting arm but not really a need and they don't have any big league ready bats. If they offer Barco and say Esmerlyn Valdez then it may be one of those too much value to pass up scenarios.
One of the options they brought up was Parades and Jake for Duran.
Feels like an overpay to me.

If you trade parades for one of Boston's outfielders, you now kinda have to clear an outfield spot too, so that's why they floated the idea

I just hate the idea of trading two good bats for only one from an offense that struggled mightily last season.

I guess one possibility is Cam is n CF. His range and sprint by speed indicate he might be average there and there wouldn't be as much pressure on his bat there.

His stats don't show him as a huge upgrade over Paredes. From 2023-2025, Paredes has significantly more HR, significantly more BB, way fewer strikeouts, and their OPS+ are nearly the same (121 vs 123). You can make an argument Duran is better, but I don't think the difference is enough that we should be giving up one of the top defensive CF in the league and a proven MLB bat like Meyers to sweeten the deal.

Also, Durran doesn't have ticking time bombs for soft tissue

Just mental health issues. Guy almost killed himself after a slump

The Astros remain engaged with the Red Sox and at least four other teams about Isaac Paredes, sources tell @TheAthletic. One of them is the Pittsburgh Pirates. Houston's first workout for pitchers and catchers is on Wednesday - https://t.co/BBMtZvZJ85

Would have been a terrible trade if it was just a Paredes for Donovan swap.
Wow. Glad we dodged that bullet.
This Spring, MLB has a new home. Starting Opening Day on NBC and Peacock.

Why would that be terrible? Donny is a good player and fits what we need.

No power in a power-limited lineup.
Sure, he hits from the left side, plays 2B. He does have a low strikeout rate and hits for average. But the OPS is likely quite a bit less than what Parades is capable of. Parades is tailor made for Daikin Park, so must be taken into account when any prospective trade hypotheticals are made.
We're talking about 30+ HR potential vs. basically 10-ish.

Why do you assume a boost for Paredes and not Donny? Donny has 40 the last 4 seasons and savant shows him at an expected 62 the icebox. Hes got weird oppo Crawford shot power.
