So what's the real probability Paredes can return with rehab and the platelet shots? Presumably it's good enough to postpone surgical option?

Any MDs on here?
He'll definitely return…

and then immediately get hurt again, get surgery, and be out for two years.

Yeah, I get a player's mindset to want to try to return and avoid surgery but seems like delaying the inevitable

If he does this there's no way he's playing in the field unless it's 1st base, so that means he's playing DH. Either they expect Yordan to be out the rest of the year or they plan to go with Yordan in LF and Altuve at 2nd.

My only experience with this is a coworker's son played hoops for Navy and did the same thing. He made it back faster than if he had surgery and he was fine. Anecdotal and a sample size of one so do with that what you will.

"In this study, the patients who received PRP for acute hamstring injuries did return to play faster. The mean time for return to play in the PRP group was 26.7 days, compared to 42.5 days in the control group. Similarly, half of the patients in the PRP group reached a point of full recovery by 26 weeks follow up compared to 39 weeks for half of the control patients to do so."

Maybe he could make it back to be a bench bat and do a Kirk Gibson

Nah, rest and come back next season

Seems like it's random, so I think being conservative is fine.

Doctors can tend to want to over prescribe surgery

Yeah it may delay his start next year but it's worth the risk imho. We tend to want certainty with these medical decisions but truth is that doesn't exist in a lot of cases

Anyone else feel kinda dirty thinking "o good, Stanton just hit a HR to put the Yankees back up over the Rangers"?

I heard this morning hitting off of a coach throwing. Hoping for live BP later this week.

You consider JV if he got waived and you had a need for a starter down the stretch

Glad they didn't trade any prospects for him

As someone who played high school ball I completely understand wanting to try to come back this year. I would try to do the same thing if I were in his situation. I've just noticed that in recent years, it seems that this hasn't worked out very well for us. But maybe I'm misremembering. Either way I hope he is able to make it back healthy this year.

JV has the Giants bully to thank for pissing away another win for him

JV throws 5 innings, 3 hits, 0 ER, 1 BB, 4 K, leaves with a 4-1 lead.

Bullpen gives up 2 in the 7th, then Pirates walk them off with 2 in the 9th with this dramatic sequence: Walk, strike out, HBP, single, fielder's indifference, fielder's choice.

JV's last three starts: 15 IP, 10 hits, 1 ER, 7 BB, 14 K = 0-1 with a 0.60 ERA.
