Agreed, I think it's clear that Rodgers is our best bet at 2B.

One of my best/worst rabbit holes to go down is looking at first rounds of older drafts and seeing when guys were picked and the no-names/busts around them. It's fascinating in all sports, but especially baseball since 99.9% of guys never jump straight from the draft to the league.

really glad the D-Backs took Swanson at #1...and the Rangers took some guy at #4...instead of Tucker

Any year at random is fascinating. I dialed up 2000 just to take a look.

The #1 overall pick was Adrian Gonazalez who had a great career - 317 HR, .843 career OPS

The #2 overall pick was a guy named Adam Johnson, RHP, who pitched 9 career games with an ERA of 10.25. That's what Minnesota got for a $2.5 m signing bonus 25 years ago.

Out of the rest of that year's top 10, 5 guys never made the majors.
The only other good picks of the entire round were Chase Utley at #15 and Adam Wainwright at #29, who was picked by the Braves, then traded before he made the majors to the Cards for JD Drew, who then walked the next season.

So we drafted 2 and 5 and now have the third pick on the roster in Brendan Rodger's.

Is it time to start paying attention to Cesar Salazar? His swing is looking strong this spring. The org loves his defense and ability to manage his pitcher/call a game. If the bat comes around, he could have some serious value paired with Yainer for the next 5 years.

I've said all along I'd be 100% OK with moving Caratini to clear salary and letting Salazar take his reps.

Dude can swing a little bit and he showed that last year with his knack for RBIs.
