If they were to take on Montero, would that mean we wouldn't be receiving money off Nolan's contract?texasaggie2015 said:
Couple brief updates after a conversation I had last night:
- Arenado is still absolutely in play and talks are still happening
- Once again had it confirmed that Montero would be a part of any Arenado deal
- Arenado had agreed to waive his NTC to come to Houston, but after the Tucker trade he wanted to wait to see what direction Houston was going
I've always thought there's no way they're giving Altuve substantive reps in LF just for Dubon to see more time at second base. They had planned on it for a while, but there was always more to it.
We'll see what happens.
Any chance we can trade them Jose Abreu?texasaggie2015 said:

I get what you're saying and I want to see Chaz return to form but how does our 7-9 compare to the rest of the division or any other club not named the Dodgers?txags92 said:That 7-9 made me throw up in my mouth a little. If you really want to waste some time today, MLB.com just posted its projected Opening Day batting order and pitching rotation for every team in the league.
https://www.mlb.com/news/projected-lineups-rotations-for-every-2025-mlb-team
Familiar faces in other places include:
George batting 1st for the Blue Jays and Loperfido batting 9th.
Charlie Morton as the Orioles #3 starter
Bregman batting third and playing 2B for the Sox
Correa batting second for theTwins
Kikuchi as the #2 starter for the Angles
Tuck batting 3rd for the Cubs
Verlander as the Giants' #3 starter
Has the Stros' lineup as
Altuve LF; Paredes 3B; Alvarez DH; Walker 1B; Diaz C; Pena SS; Chaz RF; Dubon 2B; Meyers CF
Which basically sounds like Pena's going to set some sort of record for getting left on base for a year

If baseball hadn't banned the shift, technically Bregman and Devers could both play 3B.
Until I looked up his page on B-R, I had no idea how bad Devers was at third. He's led the position in errors every year of his career except his rookie year, so SEVEN YEARS IN A ROW. As far as I can tell on this year by year list of error leaders, no other 3B in baseball history has led the league more than 4 years in a row, and that was in the 1910s.
His high is 24 in 116 games in 2018. Last year he only had 12 but still led the league. The best part is that in the COVID year he had 14 in only 57 games. That's a pace for 40.
I would hate to give up much with all the money owed.iBrad said:
Any idea who else would be involved in an Arenado trade?
It’s no secret that Vladimir Guerrero has told friends that if he hits free agency, he’d love to play for the Boston Red Sox. Free agency begins in 8 1/2 months as Guerrero officially enters spring without a contract extension.

With the caveat that it is the first full-squad workout and it is Feb. 18, it is worth noting that Jose Altuve is doing his work with the Astros’ outfield group today. He is not on the schedule to take any infield drills.

this. If Altuve is going to be the primary LF we've got to make a move for another bat. I was under the impression Altuve would play 2B 80% of the time with the other 20% in LF, not 85% of the time in LF. If this is going to be the situation I'd be okay with making a move for Nolan and moving Paredes to 2B. I'd rather have Nolan in the lineup over Dubon everyday.EABC_AG said:

OR even better sign Verdugo to play LF and have another LH hitter in the lineup. Either way I am getting nervous right now.
