2022 was his career best season, easier to "decline sharply" from an outlying peak.

I'm willing to take on a gold glove 3B who is a bounce-back candidate for less than 1/2 of what Bregman cost.
The short porch and being on a winning club could be really good for him. Also, if our front office is eager to acquire him they may see something they can tweak/fix in his approach.
Altuve goes to LF and less ABs go to a mediocre outfielder in favor of Arenado.

My last comment on bregman leaving and I'm turning the page (until he sucks ass in April and may in which I'll come make fun of him)
I'm bitter how this was drug out and handled. The toying with the fans emotions here was wrong given the support we gave him (especially through the scandal of which he was a leading benefactor of) for nearly a decade.
Ill be grateful for all hes done and time will heal the bitterness but the way this played out will put a small stain on his legacy here in my mind. A clean break up would have been better for all parties and would have make it far less emotional for me personally
All that being said in long run this is best move possible for Houston. Especially with the money we have freeing up for 26 and beyond.

Have we been that successful with Meyers? In spurts, but an 86 career OPS+
Diaz isn't really even a product of our farm, or at the least it's debatable
But the hit rate isn't high, over all. Maybe that's typical for MLB teams, but it feels like a stark comparison to our pitching success.
Now that I think about it, it's probably heavily affected by our lack of draft picks + late picks due to winning. Idk
He's getting 40/year from Boston, not 30.
If you want to go back we hit extremely high. Better than any team between Altuve, Bregman, Springer, Correa, McCullers, Marwin, Gurriel, Alvarez, & Tucker.

We wasn't good last year, might not produce significantly better than Gamel, isn't a hard worker, and puts us well into the tax.
Bregman is gonna get boo'd when he comes back. Typical out of touch athlete.
