I want the Chas that mashes heat and lefties and can occasionally lay off a slider. Last year he did not look like that guy at all... hoping our outfield is a strength but really need Chas and Jake to step up.

He has more in the tank than he showed in 2024. No doubt he's going to be hungry after a disappointing season. If he can get to more career norms, he's perfectly capable of being a dangerous 6/7 hole hitter with plus defense in a corner OF spot.

Meh. It's a ton of money and IMHO they are 3rd in the East behind some combo of NYY and Balty.

Boston would be better if they put Bregman at 3B and moved Devers. But they won't. It's a ton of money for what is a 2B upgrade.

Ill believe the bregman at 2B when I see it. You don't pay a guy $40 million a year to play 2B. Devers will end up at 1B or DH sooner than later imo

He would still be owed $22M in 2026 and $17M the year after so no. We already have a good 3B with a few years of control and our best prospect is a 3B. I don't know why this is even a thing.

Devers has been very public about not leaving 3B. I think Cora will play this with kid gloves on.

The thing is, he's a very bad 3B.

Pretty sure the Rockies are paying some of this down. Also the Cardinals could be providing salary relief as part of the deal. Even if it is just by way of taking Montero.

My interpretation of Arenado's contract via spotrac.com is:

2025- $21M ($4M of which to be paid by COL)
2026- $16M ($4M by COL)
2027- $15M ($4M by COL)

There is also $3M per year until he's 50 deferred. Hopefully STL could deal with that.
