He was terrible there. I don't think that will help him going into FA. If he struggles in the field, it could impact his offense.

Kershaw is probably the best pitcher in baseball since Randy & Pedro. He's in their class and going to be inner circle HOF IMO. That said, you're not wrong about his postseason.

32 pitchers have reached 100 IP in the postseason. Kershaw ranks 32nd in ERA with a 4.49. The others: JV 24th at 3.58, Scherzer 27th at 3.78, and Grenke at 30th with 4.14. Some guy the voters deemed wasn't good enough (Schill) is 4th at 2.23.

But I don't think the postseason gets much weight in all of this. If that were the case then Madbum needs to be in. 2.11 ERA in 102.1 innings, and 0.25 ERA in 36 WS innings. He's also 6th all-time in WPA in the WS. If you shrink that window to the last 70 years, he's second to only Mariano Rivera.

they are still dealing with the Javy Baez disaster

gave him an opt out...and of course he didn't take it

Detroit has paid $67 MM so far for 1.8 WAR from Baez

and he still has 3 years and $73 MM left on his contract

Dana played that perfectly. Putting that out there allowed the fan base to accept both moving on from Tucker and Bregman. This instance was a GREAT move for Dana.

Imagine the fan bases reaction if he doesn't put that out there, trades Tucker, and Boras leaked an "offer" for 6/180 or something like that immediately after the trade.
