The Dodgers have almost as much deferred money (slightly over $1B) as the #Guardians entire franchise valuation (1.35B per Forbes).

But yes the issue is small markets just need to spend more lol. Way deeper issue with the sport
No its not. Its good for baseball, apparently.Mathguy64 said:
So they have deferred basically 4 total years of the Astros entire yearly salary. Or Rangers or anyone else right at the edge of the CBT level.
They are getting 4 years a full team of high level players with no penalty and effectively no cost while they play.
Thats insane.

so Trump is going to make it to the White House...before Bregman finds a new team

Watching Arizona punk them in the playoffs will be a glorious thing to watch though. /DreamsAggieJ2002 said:
Lifelong diehard baseball fan here, but I won't watch a single inning of Dodger baseball this year unless it's against the Astros, even if it's the World Series. Something has to change. I can only imagine being a fan of a bottom 1/3 payroll team. I think I'd probably be done with mlb

DSG big sale on MLB jerseys. Sizes selling out.
I really wish they were the previous years replica jerseys and not that new one they made last year. Otherwise, I would buy some.

Manfred is a total clown but what the Dodgers is doing isn't going to ruin the sport. The playoffs are too much of a crapshoot for them to win 3 or 4 WS in a row.

Yep. Also nothing is stopping other teams from doing it too.

Except it looks like most other players are not willing to do this type of deal with most other teams. It's seems to be a deal mostly limited to LAD. And it does hurt the other teams in the sense that they are overpaying to get players to sign these deals. And the higher the contract to player A is, the higher the contract ask will be for a similar player B elsewhere. They are effectively jacking up the price to play poker for everyone else.
I think it is the opposite. Most teams are unwilling to do these type deals because they have significantly less financial certainty than the Dodgers. I've posted a couple of times on this thread about the Dodgers having around 10 years of revenue certainty on their RSN deal that no other team can come close to. It is a $200M plus per year guarantee that dwarfs the RSN deals that almost all other teams are receiving, especially those that are getting haircuts in the Bally bankruptcy.Mathguy64 said:tjack16 said:MaxPower said:

How do we know though? Not much has been said of other teams making major deferred offers to guys so we can't say players are only considering them from the dodgers

They would only make that one in size 7XL. But it will come with a 12 pack of chicken fingers.texasaggie2015 said:Hornbeck said:texasaggie2015 said:
