It is what it is. Tough year all around. I believe in Bochy and CY and they will have a lot of work to do over the next 6 months to fix this.

This could be an interesting off season.

I don't know how much they'll change. I don't want to knee jerk to one season in which a lot of guys regressed bigly and battled injuries. Will be interesting what they'll do with Leody, Garcia and Lowe.

Immediate needs are an outfield bat with pop and some bullpen arms. The rotation should be pretty salty with deGrom, Mahle, Eovaldi, Gray, Bradford with Teodo, Rocker and hopefully Leiter knocking at the door. Also posted an article earlier saying that Bieber may be in play. Either way I trust CY and If history is any indication Boch bounces back and wins a championship.

I would suspect that Eovaldi is going to hit free agency and see what he can squeeze out of the market.

Well if the article about Bieber is true, sounds like they let him walk. I wouldn't min a 2 year deal with him if the price is right.

Over our last 30 games, Seager is our only qualified hitter with a Batting Average over .250 with .290/.356/.581 Slash Line.

Notable players over the last 30 who are REALLY struggling around the Mendoza line are Josh Smith, Leody, Heim & Langford

At this point, Nate needs 36 more IP for his option to vest. That seems in question right now, so he's very likely a FA regardless. I hope he's back.

The biggest swings for next year IMO are Carter and Langford. Those guys have to be studs for us to extend this window.

This is the scenario where it would have been really cool to see what Heaney, Urena, Robertson and Yates could have brought back to our farm system. Didn't happen though, so oh well.

Looks like the focus now is let the guys that were hopefully reinforcements get re-acclimated over the last month and a half, make some changes in the offseason and be ready to roll in February.

This will be the most interesting offseason we've seen in a while since it will tell us where the front office currently sees this team and where it thinks it can improve. Last year was easy. Get some bullpen arms. The years before were easier. Sign someone. Anyone.

Just haven't been able to put it all together. Semien has been steady (except for on prolonged slump), but below his normal level. Heim and Garcia have been season long disappointments. Josh Smith has been great this year, but is slumping now. Langford is a rookie. Power numbers have been disappointing, but I believe he is going to be a great one. A strong finish to his season would be ideal for momentum going in to next year. I don't know what to think about Lowe. Decent hitter, but your first baseman needs to be a 20 - 25 plus home run guy.

What to do with Taveras? It just seems like at this point he is what he is. Could he get moved and we see an outfield of Carter, Langford and Garcia next year?

What about this lineup for next year?

2B - Semien
SS - Seager
3B - Jung
RF - Garcia
LF - Langford
1B - Lowe
C - Heim/Kelly
DH - Free agent pick up
CF - Carter

If Jung, Carter, and Langford are all who we think/hope they are and Adolis is closer to 2023 than 2024...that's great!

If even two of those players don't live up to expectations/return to form...woof.

Maybe we can go after a guy like J.D. Martinez this offseason. He'll probably sign a 1 year 10 million dollar deal. No big long term commitment for a true DH.

I looked through the upcoming free agents yesterday and JD Martinez jumped off the screen for me. If I'm CY, he is my top target. Checks a whole lot of boxes for this team.

As for the outfield, I think you go into spring training with Garcia, Taveras, Langford and Carter and see what happens. There are so many things at play with all four that I don't know if you should trade any of them right now.

Garcia is signed through 2025. Is he putting too much pressure on himself to perform? Is the hitting coach using the wrong approach for him? Can he be the 2023 version again or is he the 2024 version going forward?

Taveras is 25 and playing in his second full year. He shows a lot of potential and then shows in an inability to do the little things at times.

Langford is the best of the bunch. I think the hitting coach has done a bad job with him as well. We have watched him be overly selective at the plate all season long, so I am betting the coaching staff has noticed it as well since they pretty much are paid to do that. Either way, he's in LF for several years and that is cool with me.

Carter is the wildcard and very much affects the future of Taveras and/or Garcia. If he's healthy, he's your future CF and you move on from Taveras. Or if Garcia is the 2024 version, then you move on from him next offseason and go with a Langford, Taveras, Carter outfield if Taveras can stick. Or you say f it and let Garcia walk and sign Kyle Tucker and have a healthy Carter or Taveras in CF.

I would look to upgrade Lowe. You might not be able to, but I would be kicking tires.

Agreed. I just don't think there is much market to trade Adolis right now. He doesn't have a big salary. Best option is to go with him another year and hope he returns to form.

I wanted to check the Umpire Scorecard twitter to see just how bad it was last night. They posted scorecards for every game from last night except for ours.

It was real bad

Better than expected accuracy but still one of the most impactful bad umping of the season. These guys truly are amazing at their craft.

They have it listed as #3, but that non-strike call when Garabito would have had Valdez struck out, only for him to hit another pitch for a run scoring double was an absolute killer. That was clearly a strike, hard to miss that one (not that he didn't have some other bad missed calls as well).

And umpires continue to be trash. When will it change?
