The core group is Marcus, Seager, Jung, Langford, and maybe Carter if his back isn't permanently shot. Maybe Smith if he follows up with another strong year. Everyone else we can move on from unless it's team-friendly deals

What a beat down this year has been.
Jumping back to an early post, I agree that the Rangers are probably stuck with Garcia. He likely has little to no trade value at this point, and he's cheap, so they might as well see if he can turn things around next year. However, IMO, he should be on an incredibly short leash. If we're into May of next season and he's hitting around .200, DFA him and move on.
I also hope the Rangers are active in the FA & trade market this season more responsibly this off season than last - meaning let's quit signing or trading for stiffs like Grossman.

I wouldn't get my hopes up on signing a big name. But I'm hopeful we can sign a few guys that can contribute something. We don't really need massive stars. Just need a few guys that can produce average results. A couple of guys we can plug into the lineup when guys go on long slumps. The problem this year is we had guys go on long slumps but had no better options.

There is literally no outfielder worth a damn in AAA or AA right now. I guess you can have Smith in the outfield in a starting role, but I just don't see Smith as a long term starter in the major leagues. He's had a great year, but I like him way better in a utility role.

Kyle Tucker is a really good player. He's absolutely not worthy of a "blank check".

But if you're looking to sign a big free agent in the next two years, that is the best fit for what this team needs.

Garcia has sucked ass this year and he might do the same next year. The good news is if he does suck, he's gone at the end of the year and you can go find a replacement in the offseason.

Kyle Tucker is most likely going to get a 300million dollar deal. I'm not sure we can afford that.

I wouldn't throw Mahle under the bus. CY signed him on the cheap, knowing he was coming off of TJ and wouldn't pitch much this year. Hopefully the Mahle signing will pay off in 2025. He's looked pretty good so far imo.
Now the deGrom signing was for a LOT of money with not much to show for it due to his TJ surgery... hopefully he can come through on the back half of his contract.
Scherzer? with all of his ailments this year I think he retires after this season. Mets are picking up most of the tab for him though.
Now giving up Clase for all of 1IP from Kluber? Yeah that's ugly.

Never wanted a season to end so badly. These guys underperformed so hard this year. It seems like Josh smith was the only guy ready to play this year.

Well Garcia is your starting right fielder for 2025 so him getting confidence back is crucial.
