With all the local festivities, there hasn't been much talk about the draft. As World Series Champs and the last to select each round, not too much excitement. This is where the GM has to make money (aka find gems).

If the WVU kid just had brace surgery, I'd suspect he was taken to sign well under slot, as well. No way he'd want to spend the next year rehab'ing an elbow in college knowing his draft position would tank for 2025.

Also, 4Srs are often drafted to sign under slot.

It will be interesting to see who we take the rest of the way. Could be the Rangers have able to determine how much they could offer a HS kid and persuade him to sign.

The actual all star game is alright but the HR derby is where it's at. Such a fun experience that I recommend to all MLB fans if they have the funds. Glad you had a great time.

I don't know much about Hagaman and Susac but they both have really high ERAs. Hagaman's was much better in 2023, but Susac had a 6+ ERA each of the past 2 years and it was almost 9 in 2022.

I'm sure it's a "stuff" play, I just find it interesting that we took two college pitchers from good programs who don't have great numbers.

And Horn only appeared in 4 games this year. His ERA was over 4 in each of the last 2 years, though obviously a small sample this year.

Jekielek had an ERA over 4 this year, but it was 1.11 in 2023. It was over 6 in each of his first two years, though, so 2023 appears to be an extreme outlier.

Just a really confounding draft strategy for college pitchers. It's not like this organization has earned a ton of faith for pitcher development.
