I think Langford does a rehab stint and then will be back on the MLB roster quickly. CY and Bochy want him on the roster and he's a better player than Grossman right now.

Duran is the one that I would keep an eye on.

In what aspect is Langford better than Grossmen? (Edited to switch)

I think the stat Sandler mentioned was that the Rangers are low on OPS from the DH position.

Looking it up, we're 13th out of 15 AL Teams. Ahead of Minn and Tampa.

IMO, coming back from a Hammy issue is going to continue to limit Langford's ability to provide power to the lineup at the MLB level short-term.

Duran? I really expected more from him, this year. He has become expendable, for sure.

If you're responding to me, you read it in reverse. I am saying Langford is a better player than Grossman.

I think this move signals that they want to platoon Carter and they don't want to rush Langford back. But once he's fully healthy, he's on the MLB roster. Mashing AAA pitching does nothing for him. His time for MLB is now.

I think with the addition of Grossman, the question becomes whose roster spot is in the most danger once Langford is fully healthy again. If that were today, which it unfortunately is not, I would think Duran is the one to go. Of course, there is Ornelas and Wessel on the roster, but Grossman pushes Ornelas down and Jung does the same to Wendzel.

It will come down to two spots between Langford, Grossman and Duran.

Duran was solid for the first half of the season last year. There was a stretch where he was on fire. One of the big reasons we stayed in the hunt.
Since the all star break, he's produced very little.

My guess Duran gets moved.

Grossman can be frustrating. Seems to strike out in key situations often. He does work the count, and can hit lefty's

Langford absolutely is going to be the everyday starter, at some point soon. IMO

Yes, it was to you and I switched names. I'm on a conf call, so didn't proof before posting

The thing is, Duran isn't really an OF and Grossman isn't an IF. Which is why I'm not sure adding Grossman impacts Duran other than at DH.

I think Langford overall projects to be better than Grossman, but for where we are... Grossman helps us not put Duran in the OF, if necessary.

We still have: Carter-Taveras-Adolis with Janko as our 4th.

Langford may mash AAA pitching but he didn't mash MLB hitting. I think there was some hope he'd come around based on ST... but that didn't materialize. The next question is... does Langford help us win this year?! He might.

If Langford returns, IMO it will be at the expense of either Grossman or Taveras.

But honestly, getting Grossman may mean Ornelas/Wendzel get demoted and that allows Duran to remain on the IF and not exposing him to the OF.

Truth is... I don't know more than anyone else, but if I'm correct I'll let everyone know and if I'm wrong, I'll promptly move on to my next thought.

As far as Lankford, it's hard to get into a groove when pitchers don't have to throw him strikes. I'm hoping it's a rookie thing with the umps. (Didn't happen to Carter last year)

Not sure why janko doesn't get more opportunities to start considering all the injuries. He puts the ball in play and has the speed to steal bases. Not sure about his outfield game but I don't know if it can be worse than Duran.

It was a joke, but he might have a point. This is beyond absurd.

Normally sure, but he just came back after a long lay off from back surgery. Seems like it would be odd for him to suddenly injure his arm.

Where we were...
Heaney ($13M) <- Accepted Opt instead of FA
Lorenzen ($4.5M) <- Left in the cold world of FA scrambling to find a home
Urena ($1.75M) <- Former SP trying to extend his career as a RP.
Leiter (Serf - $740K) <- A guy the org basically didn't know what to do with.
White (Serf - $740K) <- A guy that was just as worthwhile to keep around as to dump.

HOLY HELL!!! If you'd have told me that was our rotation for May, I'd assume we were tearing things down and starting over.

Now...
Heaney has been the Innings guy I hoped he could be.
Lorenzen could be the highest rated success signing in a long time.
Urena has exceeded all anyone could wish for.
Leiter has a chance to prove himself.
White... well, I don't know what to say other than, give him the freaking ball.

If we make due with this rotation, I'm mortgaging the house and going all in at the trade deadline for the Rangers to win the WS.

I might have to... problem is, I've had to travel on many of the days we've had games.
