It hurts less when you know that Ross Stripling has earned a cool 35+ million in his career. That's small potatoes compared to some, sure, but still a ton of money an a lot more than a lot of guys will ever earn in the MLB.

ETA: Ross is also a super sharp dude and quite the investor/market analyst type of guy, so I wouldn't be shocked if he's got damn near double that money in investments somewhere.

Bringing the band back together. He still mashes lefties. .375 w/ a .976 OPS against them this season. I like it. Definitely a need we have currently.

I definitely did not have that on my bingo card for today. I'll trust Bochy though.

I was expecting to possibly send Y. Rodriguez or Hernandez back to Round Rock and bring in another fresh arm for the DH today. Leiter doesn't count, we get extra roster spot for playing the DH.

There's still too much infatuation with prospects in our fan base. Nobody has a clue whether this guy will even turn into a pro, much less a lights out reliever. We have a need for a bat that can hit lefties right now. We're trying to repeat as champs, right now. It's pretty simple when looked at from that angle.

I mean he was absolutely cruising with AA Frisco so far this season. Pitching to the tune of a whopping 0.00 ERA, 089 WHIP, and 16 SOs/4 BBs. I actually HATE this.

I don't think the Hawaiian is that good, but he seems a bit too much to give for Robbie Grossman.

EDIT: This guy isn't even in our Top 50 prospects.

However, I'm glad he's back. Grossman always reminded me of this dude from Rookie of the Year.

I Mean they're a good front office but I'm not sure what crystal ball could've foretold them having this many injuries and struggling against lefties.

I think we can all agree that trading for Grossman is likely an indication that Langford won't return to the Big League club once healthy.

I don't think that is a bad thing.

The RP we gave up was not on our T30. Corneillo, Church... we have some guys... I agree I don't like giving him up, but this shows how much "trust" plays a role.

Another point... Anthony Hoopii-Tuionetoa is Rule V eligible at the end of 2024, I believe. He is at AA. Do we have room to carry him after the season? I doubt it. We'd risk losing him and if he is that good, we'd likely lose him.

But, I think with the Ws we've been lining up, this is a good chance to grow some distance through momentum. Bury Oak, LAA, and Hou now.

Duran likely spooked the FO playing in the OF.

The FO is about winning and merit.

In term of RoY and comp associated with it... Carter is likely Top5 in the running.

You could be on to something with Langford not coming back up when he gets healthy. He's only at 116 MLB at-bats, so not enough to not be considered a prospect. His game logs also show a pretty consistent and steep downward trend up to when he got hurt.

It would not surprise me if we don't see him again until Sept.

He only reached A+ during 2023.

You probably know, but a team that claims a guy during the Rule V draft would have to keep them on their Active roster (26) for the duration of the season or risk returning him to the original team.

I don't think anyone would expect him to pitch at the MLB level in 2024.

He is now at AA and if he continues to do well, likely spends time at AAA. I think he'd be taken this year, if not protected. With 7 RP spots, it would be easy for most teams to stash him on their Active and give him some IP.

I don't think the Rangers would protect him. I haven't looked at who is eligible, but the Rangers likely have higher priorities. With 60IL added to the 40 count after the season, it makes it even more difficult.

The White Sox are playing AT Tampa, so that is about as far away from Oakland as you can get . I am thinking no.... Unless the trade actually went down last night and they are just now making the announcement.
