I think he's completely healthy, but simply slumping. If he wasn't healthy he wouldn't be playing. He's worth to damn much to this team physically and monetarily.

Did the injury keep him from getting up to speed properly? Yeah, but at this point and time he's just slumping due to not getting the proper ramp up to the season.

Even the best players in baseball have periods where they simply aren't that good.

Yeah, I hope not. Having had one, I can say that I wouldn't have been able to play baseball for a good long time, but I was also 40 and out of shape.

Man, the hits keep on coming on the injury front. Marc Church also got transferred to the 60 day IL, which again sounds like a one way freight train to shoulder surgery. I know these guys are in shape, but are guys across the league truly "in shape" as to prevent a ton of these injuries? If you're going to be throwing a billion mph, running full speed on the bases, swinging as hard as you can, do they need to be in BETTER shape?

The Rangers IL (along with a whole host of other teams) is a freaking MASH unit.

I don't think it's a conditioning issue, I think it's that players are being asked to/expected to push the limits of their physiology. I heard an interview with Dr. Keith Meister, and he pretty much laid the blame for all the TJ surgeries at the feet of increased spin rates, pitch shaping, etc. I would bet there's an equivalent for position players.

If you're putting more torque or strain on your elbow, shoulder, knee, etc. than it was intended to manage, you're going to get an injury eventually. That's what I think we're seeing happen. JMO
