The game tonight is on TXA 21 and the Bally Sports app only due to the Mavs and Stars playoff games.

I love nights like tonight... Clinch R1 of NBA, R1 of NHL, and Rangers just to lower the pace during halftime and Intermission.

Any idea where Walcott will fall on the next rankings?
Actually I think Walcott might probably stay close to where he is now.

He got off to a slow start at high A but is hitting better now. They'll factor in that he's the youngest player at that level, and is even younger than a lot of players in low A.

Our overall SO numbers are pretty good, but does it feel like we're striking out more recently?

Feels like last year when Jung got hurt. Offense just sucked.

It's pretty nice being able to watch the Rangers on tv today. Seems like a no brainer to let locals watch their professional teams on tv. Guess I'm wrong.

No, you're not. It's frustrating and football has it right, for now.

In your opinion, how many innings would Lorenzen have to give this year before he gets hurt to make his relatively small contract a "good deal"? He's been pretty solid, so even just 50 innings (he's already at 20) seems not bad for $4.5M.

Aggies are playing LSU tonight as well. Ags up 2-0 in the 2nd.

PSA - at Rangers games, stop yelling the word STAR during the National Anthem.

Yes, you do that at Stars games but it sounds dumb at Rangers games.

Old man rant at clouds over.

WTF? Couldn't disagree more

Do you also tell people to take off their rangers hat at Cowboys games?

How is this remotely the same? I'm also curious why someone would wear a Ranger hat to a Cowboys game, unless the Rangers were playing that day, too.

Yelling STARS at non-Stars game is incredibly dumb.

I have an everyday hat (Rangers) and a running hat (Aggies). I support the Mavs/Cowboys/Stars but have little desire to buy a hat for them.

I'm not sure what your deal is with me but forgive me for posting a noteworthy stat. They were due for a stinker, but the bats brought absolutely nothing again.

You'd think Aggies would be uniquely aware of the fact that having a great defense is awesome but if the offense does nothing at all you're still going to lose.

I don't like the way things are trending for this team. I just don't.

Seems like we're never going to have a "good" injury situation with Eovaldi recently being added to the pile and getting runs right now feels like an insurmountable task.

Good reminder from the Athletic on Wyatt and EC:

" Perhaps to my own detriment, I am trying to remain patient with the rookies who have been given regular opportunities to begin this season. This group includes Wyatt Langford, Evan Carter, and Jackson Chourio.

An organization's patience and plan for a young player figuring it out will vary for a lot of reasons, but I'm taking some comfort in looking back at the first month from current first-rounders upon their arrival to the big leagues in recent seasons.

Julio Rodrguez struck out 37.0% of the time with a 60 wRC+ in his first month with Seattle in 2022 - both marks are career-worsts for any month. Bobby Witt Jr. had a career-low 52 wRC+ in his first month (March/April combined split) upon arrival that same year. Ronald Acuña Jr.'s first full month with Atlanta in May of 2018 (he debuted in late April): 30.8% K%, 80 wRC+ the worst production for any month in his rookie season.

It's easy to forget that the leap from the upper levels of the minors to the majors is a massive one, even for elite prospects."

Not to mention the Bally's 15% discount on media revenue for their going out of business bankruptcy…and the cause leading back to cord cutting destroying the economics of the cable/sat bundle.

Chris Young told the public the team picked up the free agents leading into the last two seasons to in effect patch the talent availability until they could develop the talent already in the farm system due to collecting draft picks during the down years. This is in effect doing what they said they will do and going back to free agency is giving up in this strategy.

My thought at the time Seager and Semien were picked up is the Fieid was empty in opening due to Covid and this was the strategy to get it full to get the ticket revenue truly flowing.

But the Bally's deal likely was a loss leader for Bally's in a growing metropolitan market that is currently ranked 5th. But they didn't generate enough revenue to overcome cord cutting having strong local impact.

The only way this turns out well is if North Texas does grow to the anticipated 20 million by 2050. And that growth already started tapering. That leaves butt in seat revenue which with the new stadium will be nice but hard to predict how nice. Not getting hurts in seats due to the extended impact of covid could have impacted the club more.

But a World Series Championship was a nice reward for supporting them as a fan for 51 years. Not that they made much off me…

Yep, and that's why I keep urging caution when people on here start clamoring for a minor leaguer to be called up (Foscue for instance). There's a big difference between AAA and the majors and it's really pretty rare for a player to come up and dominate, or even hold their own initially. There's been so much conversation on here about how much we miss Jung in the lineup, but it's pretty convenient to forget that in '22 when first came up, he hit just .204 with 39 strikeouts in 98 ABs. There's almost always an adjustment period - we caught lightning in a bottle last season with Carter (he's going to be fine btw) but if you have the notion that somebody from AAA is going to come up and be a force in the lineup, you're pretty misguided.

Did I think that Carter and Langford would come into the season and light it up or pick up where they left off last season? No, because like rbtexan has said, it's really freaking hard to come into the league at 21-22 years old and be really successful. Heck, we are seeing a good example now in Bobby Witt Jr. (in 2022) and Gunner Henderson last year. Both were average at best to start their careers, but you could see the talent and ability, which I think you can say about Langford and Carter; and to be quite honest I think Carter and Langford have a better handle on the strike zone than both Witt and Henderson did.

However, did I think they would both be A LITTLE bit better than they have been? Yes. Especially Carter and his ability to get the bat on the ball consistently and Langford's raw power, but it's fine because they are ROOKIES and will be okay.

Just to add, but this team really does have a feeling of "lets just do our best to get heatlhy for the second half of the season", because they are going to stick with what they have right now, whether that's good or bad (and it's bad at the plate right now). Now, whether that's a good idea or not for a defending WS champion we can debate, but I think they are just going to keep plugging away and see what happens.
