I think winning ROY for the extra compensatory first round pick is a little overhyped. People forget that each team has a finite pool of money to pay players they have drafted, and if you draft another player of first round caliber, you will still have to pay him first round money on top of the guy you actually drafted in the first round. Do you really want to deplete your pool of bonus money by 75% or more on just two players?

With the expanded playoffs (in all sports), regular season has become more and more meaningless. You basically just want to not dig an enormous hole.

I think most additions will be in the form of players coming off the IL.
I'm sure they'll pick up a bullpen piece or two though.

The Rangers roster this year is pretty interesting in all honesty. Sure, we have 8/9 mainstays that aren't going anywhere, but behind them I truly believe not a single one, besides Jankowksi and Smith, is guaranteed a spot with this team. Duran, Foscue, Taveras, Walsh, Knizner, Wendzel etc. are all pretty expendable pieces imo, and could see a world where they are gone for different pieces the front office thinks could help more.

I think that is kinda the intent. It allows the fans of poorly run teams the ability to stay interested longer.

It's 100% the intent, but with baseball's long season it can lessen interest a bit for the true fan.
I was once a guy who watched 130 games a year (and more if the Rangers were still within 6-7 games come September). Not necessarily appointment baseball or even live, but had it on in the background or sped through the DVR.
We just won a World Series, and I've probably only watched 12 games this year?
The deficit or surplus(?) in the standings reaching 4-5 games in May was once a really big deal when you had to either win the division or stay head of the other 11 teams who didn't.
Now? You can be a 0.500 heading into September and still find a spot at the table. That's 5 months of not being good, not being bad, just being there.
That's not to say I'm not still a huge fan, but I think they could have come up with better ways to make August/September still meaningful for the below average teams without diluting the entire season (eg. the teams below a certain threshold on Aug 1 compete against one another for draft pick perks).
Just remember that Gunnar Henderson was hitting .200 at the end of May last year. Patience with Langford.

Detroit starter had decent numbers last year as a rookie, but hasn't gotten off to a great start this year through two starts. Lorenzen going tonight for the Rangers.
I may see the first couple of innings, but then I am out for kid baseball.
Is the expectation that Seager is going to sit once every 4 games throughout the year? That's a big bat to not have available fairly consistently
