the Rangers have had good starting pitching this series. Giving up too many long balls and not getting hits on offense. We're hitting the ball hard most of the time, it just seems to find gloves.

It could have been a routine play if 2nd base doesn't slide to catch it. 1st base had a bead on it. Of course no one is running on that. It looked routine to them.

Ball landed 10 feet from the mound and was in the air for 3.5 seconds.

It took extraordinary effort to not catch that.

Yeah after watching the 1B I agree it was just a blown call. Because the 1B backed off of it, it no longer looked routine. Fact that ump was about to signal it before it was dropped means he knew he blew it but you can't make the call after the play.
