So what is everyone thought on the banner?? Sports talk folks seem to not like it much, it looks fine to me maybe darker text but it is a World Series banner so all good

Eh, it's not the best, but it's still a World Series banner so I'm not complaining.

Talking with my buddies at the game yesterday, it pretty much HAD to be white. The division and wildcard banners are red, AL champ banners are Blue so white was pretty much only option.

Yeah, surely there was a handful of better places than that spot

Turned on the Astros game on AppleTV+. The visual presentation for these games is so much better than all the regionals.

They better turn it around quickly... I thought I had my 4 txts to the Saturday game against the Astros sold to an Astros fan and now "they can't come."

Good news is the Abreu suspension seemed to really hurt the Astros the first 2 games. The Astros bullpen couldn't stop walking guys. Most people think he beaned Garcia on purpose.

I think they should have put it in left field with the others, made it the same style fonts, blue with gold text, and if they wanted they could have made it bigger and taken up the space of 2 of the other banners.

My other idea would be to put it on the brick columns in left field but I know the retired numbers are there.

I was wondering if the one they dropped was just for show and if they'll make another on like all the others.

Serious question not trying to be sarcastic, how many other stadiums that are owned by cities have a giant city flag flying in them? It just seems silly to me. That's all. I know the citizens of Arlington ponied up for it because ownership scared them into thinking they were leaving but, that's another discussion.

That said, looks like white went up where the others were. My only problem with this is that you have division championship banners before the AL banners in '10 and '11. This should have wildcard and AL champs before World Series for sake of consistency.

Guess they will run to the trash can thread and say we talk about them "all the time". We just had an annoying day off in the middle of a series. Of course we're going to talk about teams who are actually playing.

I might be an outlier, but I like the WS Flag. They'll figure out the logistics and all that. I'm not real worried about it. I was very critical of GLF and there are fare bigger issues I have like the fact in a natural resting place my seats point to 1B. I literally have to turn to see the pitcher and even more for home plate. Things like having to stand in line for 2.0 IP to get a hot dog because I'd have had to miss 4 IP if I got anything else. Or like standing in a line of 30 people to go to the guys restroom... or having to go to the gift shop to get a program. Or like the fact tthe outside looks like a grill or Home Depot.

Having said that... the problem with the Arlington flag... it doesn't bother me either.

MLB teams with their city in their name: NY (2), Balitimore, Boston, Toronto, Cleveland, Detroit, KC, Chicago (2), Seattle, Houston, Oakland (their name will change), Atlanta, Philly, Pittsburgh, Cincy, Milwaukee, St. Louis, LAD, SFG.

Teams named after their state: Minnesota Twins, Arizona, Colorado
Twins are the Twin Cities of MSP. That would be like "The Metroplex" or DFW Airport.
Minnesota, Arizona, and Colorado all have 1 team.... and only 1 city that can support a team. Those states are mostly known for those cities.

Teams named after cities they are not in: Tampa, Los Angeles Angels

Technically, the Rays are in St. Pete's. That is an issue of contention.
California Angels changed to Anaheim Angels and are now the Los Angeles Angels in/off Anaheim (LAAA).
Florida Marlins chnaged their name to Miami Marlins

Washington... DC


Arlington is an outlier. When I tell people about Texas, I say you have Houston, Dallas, Ft. Worth, San Antonio, El Paso, and Austin. 6 cities with very unique cultures and demographics. Arlington is 7th in population and won't grow much more. Frisco was a real threat and if they are really getting a Universal, you'll see how big a threat.

I don't think they fly the flag because they feel like they paid for it... Arlington since the '50s (Vandergriff) has tried to make itself a destination town. With the arrival of GM, DFW Airport and being almost the middle of Dallas and Ft. Worth, Arlington is trying to develop name recognition.
