Josh Jung hit 15 balls off a tee this morning. Wrist feels good, no inflammation. He'll continue ramp up slowly this week.

Astros had their chance to end our season and they couldn't do it. Will be interesting to see if the Rangers can keep things going in the weeks after the break. If so, the ceiling is high for this team.
With the rotation and experience throughout the lineup, would be a team no one would want to see in the playoffs. Just gotta keep winning series.

We've got a fairly easy schedule remaining… 7 games against the CWS and 6 games against Toronto.
Houston also has a much tougher schedule.

The pitching will continue to take shape and come together, I have full faith in that, but the lineup still has issues that need to be addressed outside of Jung just coming back healthy. Like we talked about, the bottom half is pretty brutal still.

Getting Carter and Jung back healthy extends this line up 1-9. I've got faith they'll have a much better 2nd half if those 2 are healthy.
I think Scherzer being back is just huge.
He bumped Gray from today's start in a move that seems like he decided to take ownership of getting us into the playoffs.
I heard him on the radio this week basically tell the interviewer who asked him if he'd waive his no-trade... he said he wouldn't because we're going to win here. Then, talked about stepping up and raising your game especially if you are hurt.

Are we actually holding out hope on Carter? Isn't it a back issue that had been bothering him for a really long time up to the point they put him on the IL? I'm never confident in a mid-season return with those, but you never know.
I'm not holding out hope... but then, when they called him up last year, I felt it was a truly desperate move. 
So, I have no credibility... on him or anything else.

BTW, pre-game, they reported that Bochy basically said he didn't know when deGrom was going to pitch, but that he was going to pitch in the regular season. The ton and message seemed to be saying that Bochy sensed the determination and eagerness for deGrom that he is tired of not competing.
That's what you do to bad teams, you take the series. Good job Rangers!
If he can start a rehab assignment by the end of July, I think we see him around when kids go back to school.

That loss has to hurt for the Astros. They were red hot playing at home with their ace on the mound vs a "crappy" team with a an awful offense and still couldn't get the job done.
Angels sweep the M's. Just 5 games back now. Couldn't ask for a better finish going into the break.
Mariners and Astros lose. Rangers win and home run derby on deck at our place!
One thing to keep in mind if there is a race at the end of the season… we play Oakland's last series in the Colosseum. I only know this because I was looking at tickets to that last game and saw they were crazy inflated (like $300+ a seat).
Something interesting to think about. Astros have only played 41 games against teams above .500 and have only won 16 of those games. For reference we have played 58 games and have won 26 of those games.
