I don't think it is nearly as egregious as your posts are making it seem. We are six games up in the standings so not exactly a must win situation so as such I have no problem seeing if Verlander could finish the inning. This is the time of the season to see if JV can work himself into a pitcher that can contribute in the postseason.
Like I said above, JV is in the postseason rotation unless his arm falls off. Even if he's not deserving based on late 2024 you know he's going to be penciled in unless he's awful this month. Leaving him in had more to do with Espada having so much respect for him that he couldn't make the walk out there even though it was the right call.
BTW as we all know, a 10 game lead can disappear in 24 games and I'll feel good about that 5 game lead with about 5 games left.
