Seem to recall he had a player option if he pitched enough innings. Don't think he'll hit that threshold. But i really don't know his contract terms

This offense at the moment is maybe the worst in the majors. Even when one of our guys gets hot and carries the team, they sleep wrong and miss multiple games and come back out of rhythm (e.g., Bregman, Yordan). Tucker being a total ***** for 3 months is exposing the rest of the lineup more than ever.

The Mariners were on life support and all of a sudden have eyes on catching us atop the division

We needed to stay hot on offense in this stretch against really good teams. Instead we've had bubblegum and bailing wire lineups and little offense

With our schedule in Sept., we aren't gonna be able to limp into the playoffs. Either we start balling (by getting reinforcements or simply just playing better), or we are gonna miss out altogether. I'm not at all comfortable with a 3.5 (soon-to-be 2.5) game lead.

I don't see this team making the playoffs if this past week is any indicator. Philly is a quality team. We just don't have the bullpen to keep a good team down, and we don't have the bats (right now) to outhit a good team. Too many key injuries. The front office got one good arm from the deadline, but have up a lot of young talent to get it. Blanco was a really nice surprise, but he's starting to tire later in the season.

ETA: maybe I'm wrong. I hope so.

Philly is 22-25 since July. They're a quality club but playing pretty bad baseball right now and we could be staring at a sweep. Then get the red hot Padres and DBacks still to come, plus a very solid KC team this weekend.

Since scoring 10 runs in Boston, the Astros have averaged fewer than 4 runs per game (14 games). It's tough for the pitching staff to hold teams less than that, especially with the defense the Astros have played lately.
