with regard to another Astros contract for Bregman...
remember that Yordan becomes a $26 MM player in 2026, and Javier becomes a $21 MM pitcher in 2026
throw in Hader, Lance, and Altuve...
and those 5 players combine for about $117 MM in payroll for the 2026 season
and where are Tucker and Framber?
I think we're on the same page, but, no, it needs to be based on how you think he will perform.AggiEE said:W said:

Bregman's contract needs to consider the entirety of his big league performance, how it's trending, what his age is, etc
Last thing we need to do is hop on the recency bias bandwagon
7 years is insane to me, 3 years and 60M with player opt outs is ideal, maybe stretch to his age 35 season but no way I'm going 7 years

Its not a problem for us for someone else to overpay him. Our problem would be finding a replacement at a price and skill level we like.gigemJTH12 said:

Yall are too quick to move on from Yainer. He was elite at gunning down runners last year, is well above average blocking balls, and seems to have excelled this year at managing both vets and young guns. That said, there is nothing wrong with 2 catchers. Look how often Caratini and Diaz are in the lineup together recently. Look at the Braves 2 headed monster. KC is getting the most from Salvy by pairing with Fermin. Look how we won our title with McCann & Gattis. We went from black hole to feeling very good about the position for the next 6 years. Things change quickly.
Suddenly it's 1987 in here.W said:

Hello from Tropicana Field, where Kyle Tucker is doing some on-field work that has included crow-hop throws, short distance, side-to-side explosive movements, some jogging and taking fly balls in left field. It's more than we've seen him do at any point since he went on the IL.

Kyle Tucker is taking flyballs in the outfield at Tropicana Field. That's after he played catch and did some exercises and light running on the turf. Interestingly, Zach Dezenzo is also in the group taking flyballs.

Also, Zach Dezenzo is taking fly balls in left field at Tropicana Field right now. He's never played there as a professional.

That's too bad, because he had played 80%+ of his team's games going back to his contract year here and I was hoping for his sake that he had finally figured out a way to keep himself healthy.W said:
speaking of the Twins...
Carlos is still struggling with a foot injury
having a great year for Minnesota, but missed 40 games already
will probably max out at 110 games played or so
Zapruder would be jealous

This is second time in franchise history two Astros have won Co-Players of the Week with the other one coming for the week Sept. 11, 2000, by OF Richard Hidalgo and IF Julio Lugo.
