Maybe if Corey would be willing to move to 3B because he's not really cutting it at SS anymore.

I wouldn't buy the whole thing but if you can get the Rangers to eat the last year or two? Yeah, I'm listening on that.Farmer1906 said:
Yall are wild to think about buying the second half of the Seager deal.

Yet Jeremy is more likely to make a game-saving web gem than Seager.

We have been on a good run the last 60 games or so until the recent stretch. People remember the bad outcomes (especially in close games) more than the good ones that fade together. If we score 4-5 runs on average we'll be fine. It's not like the Rangers and Sox have unhittable staffs.
This.
There's definitely reason for concern, but I'm not hitting the panic button.
I think he's going to want more money than anyone will offer. If he can start to draw a few walks and pull the ball in the air, I would give 5/100. Based on what he's been this season, 2/32 M with a club option for 3rd year @ 18 M.cc10106 said:
I'd love for Alex to stay and have never been very negative about him on here, and we wouldn't have won the title in '22 without him. He's gonna want more money than we'll offer.

The Houston Astros are promoting OF Logan Cerny to Corpus Christi (Double-A).
— Chase Ford (@_chaseford) August 5, 2024
Cerny had 30 extra-base hits with 26 stolen bases and 35 RBI for the Asheville Tourists.#Astros
Thats kind of my point. The 10 year deals are for guys who are 27 or 28. You get 3 or 4 prime years and then you're at the stage where it's a 6 or 7 year deal. Well, the guys getting those deals are 30 or 31. Why not do 10 years for the younger guy rather than 6 or 7 for an older one (or 3 for a really old one)?Farmer1906 said:
10/325 and 7/215 are very different. The Seager one includes 3 peak prime years before age 31. Maybe Seager would get 7/215 on the open market, but I would guess not. Bregman absolutely will not.
Similar to Carlos, that's a "goodbye but I want to tell my fans I tried" offer. I wouldn't give Bregman $100+M anyway but someone will exceed that (hell we have a reliever nearly that much). If you don't want to play the free agent market price game that's fine but you better have a loaded farm (and be willing to do the ugly things that are required to stock it).Farmer1906 said:I think he's going to want more money than anyone will offer. Love, Breggy -- but his performance does not warrant 30M/year.Ag_07 said:
I saw a Bleacher Report article that predicted we resign Bregman to a 7/$210 deal.
I don't think there's any way in hell we (or anyone else for that matter) pay him that.

Astros are 5-5 vs. the Rangers this season. Winner of this series will claim the Silver Boot. Astros have claimed the Silver Boot in each of the last 7 seasons.

I think we have quite a few Astros thread members going to Boston this weekend. Roll Call?
I will be there for all three Friday-Sunday. First time at Fenway and can't wait.
I'll be there with my brother for the Friday and Saturday games. First time as well

the former players cabal is probably okay with 7 years for $210 MM
you know they love Bregman
Assuming we don't, How do you man the 3 OF positions with the way the current players have been performing?EastCoastAgNc said:
