Remember, it's the difference in run expectancy...not what actually ended up happening. So that missed call included the difference between nobody on and one out and a runner at 1st with nobody out.

And then you accumulate that difference for every one of those missed calls...so 0.2 is reasonable

Or actually it was the difference in run expectancy between...

1. Nobody on and 1 out (if he gets the call right)

2. Nobody on, nobody out and a 3-2 count on the hitter (the result of him getting the call wrong)

No it's not. No outs and 1 on 1st versus no outs and no one on, that difference alone is .831 versus .243. That's 0.57 runs. And since Seager homered after it cleared the bases. The next difference between no one on and 0 outs versus no one on and 1 out is 0.461 versus 0.243. That's another .0.22 runs.

That one call all by itself is basically a 0.8 run expectancy call. It's just about the 1 real run they got off of Semien.

I doubt that call even counted against the ump. I feel these audits have a bit of a 'gray zone' to give latitude to the ump. Blummer said Statcast was showing 7 missed calls for Brown at one point during the game last night, but there are only 5 total (strikes called balls) for the game between all pitchers, so definitely a discrepancy there.

The other factor that can never be quantified is the impact it has on the pitcher. He now has to come deeper into the strike zone which obviously has ramifications.

The same for hitters having to expand their zone when an ump gives generous corners.

Bring on the damn challenge system!!! Hold these f***ers accountable!

I remember watching it live as a kid. When they announced it would be Meatloaf I certainly didn't think he would knock it out of the park like he did.
