There is plenty of blame to go around. The players that were healthy mostly underperformed. But we were no near full strength either.

In no way was the SP not a problem as well.

SP in Mar/April
5.10 ERA 27th
4.23 FIP 20th
4.57 xFIP 28th
1.50 WHIP 29th
10.2% K-BB% 27th
1.7 WAR 22nd

we scored 3 runs or less in 17 of the 30. Not ideal.

Y'all are just arguing in circles.

Fact is there's no one answer or reason why this team is where they are now.

Slow start offensively
Injuries to the pitching staff
Shaky back end of the pen
Rookie manager
Meddling owner
The black hole that was Jose Abreu

And honestly probably a few more.

Fact is it's an entire organization problem and it needs to get fixed. Not sure there's anything to do to salvage this season but that's where it needs to stop. Don't let this bad run snowball into a tailspin.

Grind it out this season, let the chips fall where they may, and see what happens then start fresh in 2025.

This was the stretch right here that IMO we will look back on as the difference

Go 5-4 instead of 1-8 over that stretch and you would be sitting above .500 right now at 37-36

Wife and I are rewatching all of them and that was last night's movie. Half blood prince is next which is my least favorite of the movies but favorite of the books

No, that's a nice question, I've had a rough few days on Texags, I appreciate the levity.

Honestly the worst part of is all is that Star Wars is only my #2 nerd factory. #1 is the Dark Tower books by Stephen King (but don't mention that ******* movie they made). I've read those books about 15-20 times each and in 2005 I spent $350 on a Dark Tower tattoo.

I could write a 1,000 word essay about basically anything from Star Wars other than a few bad cartoons in like 15 minutes - other than critcizing them of course.

Harry Potter I've read probably 10 times each and just absorbed that world.

LOTR - the books and the movies

Game of Thrones - the books and the TV show. I saw GGRM talk at Rudder back in 2013

Battlestar Galactica, the newer one, and by new I mean 2004 lol.

I'm sure there are 30-50 other avenues I'm not able to remember at present. I'm also doing a series of Rewatchble movies on the ENT board based on Bill Simmons' podcast of the same name. #5 will be out this week. I plan on doing 100 of them, so yeah, I've got some issues.

How they didn't include the scene where Voldy applies for the job at Hogwarts from Dumbledore's memory in the movie is a crime against humanity.

That scene not being there and the Gaunt's omission are what really stand out to me. Best book in the series IMO and the movie really fell flat. I have similar feeling for Goblet of Fire as well

2024 season to date:



I remember thinking how the F the Padres couldn't win jack last year with all that talent. The 2024 Astros have answered that.

Injuries are a cop out. No reason this team couldn't survive a couple bad starts. Astro starters have performed well overall. It's the bullpen and offense which are primary culprits.

That being said…there's still time and I expect Crane is not going to bail yet on this season.

I still think it's too early to call Espada a failure. The two biggest issues people have are sticking with Pressly and keeping Abreu in the lineup. The reality is he was never going to get rid of Abreu if he didn't let him play. Hiding him in the bench all but a few games a week would just prolong the madness. As for Pressly, the advanced stats would tell you he's been very unlucky. Add in the fact he had to pitch some time (the 7th isn't magically easier than the 8th) and it's really not some obviously bad decision. People think Bregman has some hex that keeps him from hitting in the top 4 but that's just ridiculous nonsense.

Long story short, I'd be fine with bringing in Tito but I don't think this is some huge black mark against Dana, especially since we don't know the other options that were available. We'd probably have Ausmus managing if Crane and the former player clowns had their way.

Edit to add wife and I are rewatching HotD before we watch the new season and she's very displeased tonight will be a baseball only evening. Last night we watched 2 episodes after the Astros game, same the night before after the Aggies

In our 40 losses this year we have averaged 2.1 runs. The most runs we've scored in a loss is 8 once, 7 twice and 5 once. 4 games out of 40 we scored 5 or more and lost, to pull the average up to 2 point 1.

Shutout 3 times.

I don't know how that compares to the rest of the league, but that's not really a starting pitching problem.
