We all enjoy the Farmer-Marvin back and forths
I look forward to national writers praising us when we wax the Sox later in the season. Admittedly, the Yanks pitching this well without Cole is impressive, but this seems a little too congratulatory for my taste. The New York Yankees are the best team in the American League right now because Juan Soto and Aaron Judge are absurd, yes, but their starting pitching has been phenomenal all season. And that’s been without Gerrit Cole. Luis Gil emasculated the White Sox today. https://t.co/MXGSxFfplI

No stat is ever going to be better than watching a guy play and seeing what he does.
There certainly are intrinsic characteristics to consider that stats do not capture. There's a reason Bauer is not playing right now. I think Correa has leadership qualities that are difficult to quantify. I'd add Brantley as well, and Altuve with how they work and prepare.
If stats were the be-all-end-all, the nerds would not keep creating new ones… haha.
Continuous improvement, capturing more and new information, & not letting perfect get in the way of better.
Ok, yeah, I see that. Uh huh. Sure. Except what I mentioned is not captured, nor is it going to be captured, on the back of a baseball card. If that were possible, every manager and CEO hire would lead to success.
I'm happy to get into a deep dive on continuous improvement and business transformations if you'd like. That's my geek-out space and career work, but I'm not sure anyone else would really care.

I led lean projects for a few years so I would find that conversation interesting.
I was just referring to why new stats keep popping up. On base is better batting average. Slugging is better than on base. OPS is better than slugging. Weighted runs created plus is better than OPS and so on.
On Friday, Josh Hader became the 19th pitcher to save games against all 30 teams. The others:

Credit for Luhnow for this one. Hard to let someone so beloved go.

Yep, it was the right call, though I was sad to see him go. He was probably my favorite player.
